Plus there are no real recruiting expectations in central Indiana. Hopefully he can hang with IU since there will be no chance vs ND and OSU for kids in Indianapolis.
He will be expected to out-scheme his opponent each week, which he will do from time-to-time, and the base will be happy.
No surprise, Navy had definitely taken several steps back the last few years. Niumatalolo is the winningest coach in program history, going 109-83 in 15 seasons. Ken Niumatalolo will not return to Navy football after 15 seasons leading Midshipmen
Given limitations he had in recruiting, thought he did well over the years. QB incredibly important role at Academies. Recruiting and roster not always within coaches control. The post grad service commitment and difficulty obtaining exemptions to play in NFL after graduation (postpone service commitment) make it difficult to attract top talent. NIL program differences and easing of transfer rules at other programs makes it even more difficult to recruit to a program that is more challenging to leave
They ran the flex-bone that he learned from Paul Johnson....its an option offense that can really thrive if there is a stud at WR. Its a little old-fashioned though and hard to recruit players to play in the system since they are all planning on playing in the NFL and the NFL doesn't run option offenses. Interestingly, Army runs the same O (Coach also was at Ga Southern like Paul Johnson).
Miss St DC to be new HC. Mississippi State promoting Zach Arnett as coach: Bulldogs elevating defensive coordinator to top role
It sure captivated the country wondering who "shot" him? Led to the current weeknight soap-opera series approach. LOL!
A gamble no doubt, but I don't think they have a permanent AD yet. First things first. New coach may need to win quickly to please a new AD. Will be interesting to see if he keeps the Air Raid offense, which isn't friendly to DCs.
