Nothing about morals here. I think it speaks more to whether or not you can coach up a guy like this.
I’m not saying it’s about morals. It’s just how serious are you to buy in on what we are trying to do here? …here is our plan to help with academics …here is our customized nutrition plan for you to get bulked up …here is THE best secondary coach in the country and he has a plan to help get you to the league and have a successful career. I’m being real with you …can you be real with me? And his actions said no. Move on.
Who was that 5 star, cant miss, stud, defensive lineman who played us and went to Auburn. I think he went to Auburn.. Anyway, he was a complete bust... Cormini needs to stop playing around, chill out with the obnoxiousness or he could end up like that dude.
I mean, Cowart is still on an NFL roster, so not really fair to call him a "total bust". Certainly didn't live up to his prospect ranking, but he was alright at Maryland.
We got the rush end that was a better college player, and he ended up being the better NFL player, which is part of how they rank 5 stars.
McClain was kind of obnoxious about his commitment. OK, criticize him for it, that’s fair. But that’s not enough for me to condemn him to all eternity to the “uncoachable” bucket. He’s not a violent sociopath who hurts people. Well, he might be, but nothing he’s done so far in his life has demonstrated that. Also, Napier gets paid very well to coach difficult personalities. That’s a big part of his job. If a coach needs 85 Tebows to succeed, he’s not a good coach. You need to be able to take guys with big egos, guys with unpleasant personalities, guys who don’t like criticism and guys who are just jerks and succeed with them.
If we feel like we get Ricks if we don’t take Cormani, then I’m cool with that. If they are unrelated you go after both.
It’s pretty simple… if they feel he can help the team and be a part of the process they very well might take him. But he did leave a VERY negative impression. It’s like a job interview. It’s a 2 way street. If one side strings you along and says all the right things but their actions are completely different from what was said in the job interview the bridge is burnt. Neither side is coming back from that. Our DB class is borderline exceptional as it stands. And I like our chances with Ricks better than most on here. Napier also gets paid really well to make sure nonsense doesn’t disrupt what he is building.
I'd rather he go waste away at scUM than go to Bama. But, as long as Bama has T-Robb as the CB coach, it's just as good.
