It should go to Duggan, he had the least talent around him and still had an undefeated season. Bennett getting a lifetime achievement invite.
I’m tired of QB’s dominating the stiff arm trophy. They get their stats jacked up and way too much pub for it. Should not only be about 3 offensive positions.
If Will Anderson had the season he had last year this year, he could of won it. This year's crop is weak, but watching Williams struggle to walk the other night and still be USCs only hope makes me think he is the most deserving. I may get crushed for this and I don't know who should of been the 4th invite, but Bennett even being there shows how weak this year's candidates are. I would have sent Hooker before him.
It’s definitely a down Heisman year. I think Hooker is getting screwed here. Should at least have gotten an invite. With what we have I could go Dugan or Bennett.
At beginning of year I would have said it would be Stroud or Young, I will say this is one of the more uninspiring groups in recent memory for sure.
I'm tired of players from a limited number of teams being selected. Seems sort of lazy since many of the voters are suppose to be knowledgeable professionals. Winning is not mentioned in the Heisman Trust mission
Duggan impressed me in that loss last week. They win the game if they just called his number. He should’ve been like Tebow and get into Dykes face about letting him get the ball.
Just watching the fire that Duggan had in him vs. Kansas State makes him an instant fan favorite. There are a whole bunch of other QB's around with more natural ability, but none play with more passion.
I don't think many of the Heisman voters have actually held a football in real life. 90% of them are media members who just auto vote for the QB of the hot teams at the time, UT is no longer hot
They are knowledgeable professionals but their profession is media and their knowledge is entertainment. So they vote for whoever entertains them and generates media traffic.
That's actually pretty funny. I think what Bennett has been able to do is impressive, but its difficult to not be successful with the amount of talent around him. That being said, he has been extremely limited at WR all year. Hooker is likely a better pic, but personally, I still thing Bryce Young is the best QB in the country. Without Young, Alabama is almost certainly a 4-loss team...possibly more (LSU, UT, Texas, Ole Miss). The biggest issue for Young is that the rest of the team around him (short of Gibbs) completely underperformed this season...Bama opened with the season with the largest odds ever in Vegas to win a NC. I think what impresses most about Bennett is his results against ranked teams. Going back to the SEC game last season, he's 172/249 (69%) for 2349 yds, 21 TD's, 4 INT's, and a QBR of 91.8....which includes two SEC Championship and two CFP games. This season, he's 13 TDs/2 INTs vs ranked teams, with 1472 yds and a 73% completion rate.
Agree bc the best player in college football that I have seen is not a QB. It's that dadgum TE at Georgia. No one has stopped that guy. He's is the difference maker on that team and was last year also. QB's get it for the same biased reasons Lincoln Riley's teams can give up 45 points per game while he still is the darling of the press, especially the Sensationalism network we call ESPN.
