If the daughter of a prominent liberal politician tried to off herself, there would be no shortage of MAGA-identified nutjobs coming up with all sorts of jokes and disgusting rhetoric. Anyway, like I said, I wish her the best.

I agree, but I’ve noticed that every politician I’ve personally known who has sought state or national office is an Alpha human whose priorities are different than yours and most of us. Yet, we need the Alphas (and to occasionally reign them in).

The first one out of the chute would be Donald Trump Jr.

That’s why we call them “nut jobs” and “disgusting”.

These sad situations happen for so many and often complex reasons. I definitely don’t think we outsiders should be blaming Ted for this. (Not that you are, just as a general comment)

But I do agree with you about the priorities. If my daughter was about to die and someone could change that if I gave them our house, jobs, cars, and savings, I’d consider it a bargain.

Agree. Politics is an inherently selfish line of work irt family life.

If your adult spouse is on board, thats fine... But dragging kids into it is selfish.

I mean the idea of politicians not breeding is appealing...

As a father I have empathy for Cruz and his wife. This will impact their family deeply and forever. Hope the kid can get the help and support she needs. To all the reporters out there digging for a scoop, I don’t need to hear anymore.

First, I hope his daughter is okay and gets the help she needs.

Second, I hope (but realize that it is unlikely) that this experience makes Ted less likely to do what he did in the Pelosi case, where he helped push the conspiracy theory while Paul Pelosi was still in the hospital. Unfortunately, Cruz has never shown much in the way of conscience or self-reflection.

Look how well he “defended” his wife against Trump. Even that was probably an act for this guy.

He was visibly upset, sure. Might have been genuine emotion. But like all narcissistic sociopaths, even if his anger was genuinely present, it wasn’t likely out of concern for the actual well being of his wife, but rather for how that insult reflected on him personally.

You deserve a bigger “come on man” for this response. Then again…your track record speaks for itself. You would believe the media that despises Ted Cruz without question and make a crude remark based on it. At least you helped define why…

That's where the reigning in comes in. Or, we can elect alphas who are, most importantly, kind, and also principled and open-minded. Is that too much to ask? Perhaps, as it seems those qualities are diluted in what candidates must pay - literally and figuratively - in gaining power over the rest of us.

You don't even know what you're talking about, you just condemn "the media" out of hand. And speaking of track records, your posts make me sick.

No. You don’t know what you are talking about. You decide to take the negative narrative that Cruz “blamed” his daughters pushed by the left media and insert it into a thread about one of his daughters possibly attempting suicide. He never “blamed” his daughters for their trip. He explained they ended up out of school and they took the advantage of open time to get away. He also admitted he should not have done it considering his position. Unfortunate for him but when you are in a position like him it does not look good when you leave the state with your family in those circumstances. For 99% plus of people with the means to do so it would have been no big deal. But there are some sacrifices for all decisions and his to be a senator…he should not have made the trip.

But your crass remarks continue to speak for themselves…

Yeah, that isn't what he said. Here is what he said:

He put the onus of the decision on his daughters, not himself or the family unit. Try to be accurate if you are going to criticize others.

I asked a question. And just as you say, he used his daughters as an excuse to get his sorry ass out of Texas. It didn't "look good"? Oh, why didn't he think of that? Ha ha ha. Just defending the likes of Ted Cruz is one reason your posts make me sick. But I'm glad my "crass remarks speak for themselves." I like to be clear.

Your bias is the only reason for this. When Covid shut us down from working. We took our kids to Palm Coast so we could engage in normal life activities. Thankfully we chose not to be politicians. But I am sure some here will find some way to say we were bad people for taking our kids to the water to do their joke of class work online instead of staying in town and doing it there when the government was not allowing us to work.

He made a bad decision based on his position. He said as much. Grow up.
