I don't know what JJ's current weight is, but he certainly looks a little bit lighter than last season, and his play on the court seems to reflect it. He still has trouble defending some players and sometimes commits unnecessary fouls trying to recover. But he's picked up in steady improvement from where he left off after his eye injury. I don't know how easy or hard it is to lose weight during the course of a season, but I hope he can lose another 10 to 20 pounds by March. A little lighter on his feet, a little more spring in his jump, and a little longer stretches of play without tiring, and he could really start to shine.
And how about that three he took that darn near went down. It was a nice looking shot. Dude is a pretty good passer, too.
He's shooting 50% from 3 this year. Those are All-American numbers, and I'm giving him the green light to just fire away.
Just a great kid. Never seems to have a bad day. He is loved by his coaches and teammates. One of my all time favorite personalities.
I just don't see the hype myself..slow feet on D and can't finish under the basket if the defender is in position...nothing personal...just my opinion on his ability
He is finishing quite well underneath. He’s 12-15 on his 2’s this season. The slow feet on defense is a big concern, however. I am assuming that he will be quicker if he loses weight and adds muscle that makes him quicker. I might be wrong. Clearly, our biggest recruiting need as of right now is a 5-man who can compete effectively in the SEC.
12 for 15 huh? Hmmm ..When his shot gets blocked..is that counted as an attempt? I know there's been more than 3 times he couldn't finish in traffic.
Getting the ball stripped doesn't count as getting the shot blocked. Both he and Colin still get the ball stripped in traffic because they're holding it right where the hobbits can get their nasty little mitts on it.
I believe that blocked shots are attempts. However, it’s not an attempt if the ball gets knocked away from him before he shoots it.
He needs to play a lot more! Teams are scared to death of the guy. Should’ve been out there a bunch especially vs UConn
With Castelton seeming to struggle with UCONN’s size, might have been an opportunity to experiment with more minutes for Jitiboh or even both on the court at the same time. Would it have mattered? Probably not.
