nahh. nobody leaving via portal wasn't someone we expected to be a starter next year. all of these guys are bench warmers or partial contributors.
You want to punish the kids who have more than likely been asked to move on? The two who declared for the nfl and opted out aren’t going to be a big enough numbers problem to be concerned about. The transfers are a necessary evil. The timing sucks, but these kids want to get enrolled before spring, so they have to hit the window. We don’t have scholly’s for all of them and we need a large amount of them to leave. The alternative would be an incoming class that’s way light on numbers.
The covid year with no increase in schoolies was always a time bomb. Throw in lazy recruiting and it is a tsunami
I have a favor to ask when NSD and portal is through. I don't know how or I'd do it myself, but what I'm looking for is a before and after on composite talent on the 22 and 23 rosters. I'm not sure how difficult that would be, but if someone has it in them to do it and share that would be much appreciated.
@bobbybaker86 I think the distinction is "scholarship" players. Lots of walk-ons in those numbers, perhaps?
I think I read a lot of them ended up actually going down to the FCS level just because of a lack of spots. So they found "somewhere" to play just maybe not on the level they wanted
I thought it was, "on second thought, please take me back for one semester, so my moms don't kill me."
