Agree about getting Lagway. If we get him it shows things are changing in recruiting for us and I believe starts a real upward trajectory in recruiting. The portal exodus doesn’t bother me and is necessary. I would be worried if it wasn’t happening.

Those receivers that Trask threw to weren’t ever open for Franks . It’s a two way street. I bet Trask would make Shorter , Pearsal, and company look a lot better.

Does anyone know how these NIL deals are structured? Is the money spread out over a time period, 3-4 years. I just can’t imagine all of it being upfront.

The guys Franks was throwing to …Jefferson, Hammond, Swain, Cleveland all left for the league the season before Trask took over. And I wouldn’t say they weren’t open for him. They caught lots of balls and did some damage that year.

It's going to be structured over time with some upfront money when the player hits campus (for the more 'legitimate' collective entities).

Trask took over in the middle of the year before and they were all the sudden a lot better than they were under Frank’s

I was a fan of Franks, but anyone watching the KY game when Kyle came in for Franks due to injury, had to see how much more fluid the offense was under Kyle. I'm still in partial "shock" as to just how good Trask was when he finally got his chance.

It still pisses me off that the defense, the defensive coordinator and the head coach BLEW IT with Kyle.

That kid was a Playoff and National Champion caliber QB that was WASTED. Any defense at all would have positioned UF for the playoffs. Kyle and those recievers (Pitts most prominately) masked many of the weaknesses of that Gator team.

I know that we blame the NIL when we miss on a recruit, but this demonstrates that for other schools, we’re the NIL boogeyman.

Yeah Finebaum recently said Nick saban wasted two of the best players to ever play for bama (will Anderson and Bryce young)….same sentiments with Mullen and Trask/Pitts. That offense was INSANE, on par with burrow at LSU. All wasted smh

Seems like for 7 figures you could get a proven transfer with a couple of years left.

I had an absolute MELTDOWN after A&M that year. Did we even force 1 punt? One fumble (Davis) killed our chances because the defense was so poor. As I watched tamu run counter after counter for first down after first down, I knew then that UF had no chance to make any real waves due to that defense.

Well therin lies the rub Fox.

Lane Kiffen recently came up with this ephiphany:

"Considering that the transfer portal is essentially colleges version of "Free-Agency" whats to stop successful kids from "testing" the transfer portal waters at the end of the year and see what the highest NIL bidders have to offer?

IMO opnion Lane is breaking ranks with coaches keeping silent about this NIL insanity. I also agree with his point, what is to stop the transfers other than a wad of cash to "match offers"?

This was the game that made me realize nothing would change. They had no business keeping that game even close and yet their best defense was an offense that we couldn't get off the field. I had hopes we would start the game with a stop and then we laid that egg....
