So how long did you work with AR??? I’m guessing you didn’t. If you see flaws in his play and/or technique then fine, I guess it’s fair game. But you took it further by insulting his character & integrity. That’s just bad form.

 

Call it what you want .. he was protecting himself for the draft..you can spew whatever you want it’s my take and if you don’t like it oh well .. moving on

 

Nobody but AR and maybe a few people close to him know exactly what was in AR’s heart. But it looks like he placed he placed his personal goals above team goals throughout the season. Maybe it just looks that way in context. But if that is true, then, yes, that is a function of character.

 

I’ll bite. I promise we will believe We’ve seen it all. What was his score?

 

How does it look like that? By playing hurt?

Do you realize AR ran more than Napier’s QBs in the past?

Actual film studies show he was making the correct reads.

So what evidence do you have that shows he was dogging it?

 

I suspect that maybe part of the issue with how AR running was not just him, but maybe the coaching staff asked him to only run as a last resort based on what we had at QB on the bench.

As of today he is a flight instructor (CFII). Wants to either fly fighter jets or aerobatics.

Coming from a kid that grew up in trailer parks in the lower Keys this Dad couldn't be more proud.

Evidence? I’m not putting him on trial or trying to convince you to see it the way I do. I don’t have any evidence that you don’t have. I just interpret the same things a bit differently.

I saw, same as you, a decline in his grit over the course of the season. I saw him make poor throws with an open field in front of him that the AR of 2021 or even early 2022 would have tucked it and run for a first. Could an injury explain that? Of course. But then we have the context of his announcement for the NFL (unwise, in my opinion, but no issue) coupled with his announcement of opting out of his last game (bigger issue for me). Others have pointed out evidence in the Twitter feed that suggests he had that ready to post since, like, late October; I don’t know if that’s true, but given the decline in his play, it would not surprise me. Also, there is the Kitna matter. Maybe two weeks ago he was telling himself that UF was in good hands for the bowl, and he was doing Kitna a favor. No idea. But then, yeah, he learned like the rest of us that Kitna wasn’t going to play, and we were up the creek. Did he reconsider and decide to finish strong so that the team, his team, would not embarrass itself? No, he didn’t. From my perspective, he shrugged and said, “What does that have to do with what I want for me?”

So that’s how I see it. I don’t wish any evil on the kid or anything. But I do interpret all of that as a character issue. And I probably wouldn’t want to work with someone like that in the future.

 

So, I’m with you in that I won’t miss him. He was nothing special.

But, why will you enjoy watching him fail at the next level? I hope he does great. I don’t think he will…but I’d be thrilled to be wrong.

 

Personally, I don't pay any attention to players after they go pro (FB or BB) so whatever happens with AR is a big meh for me. Tebow was the exception to that.

 

AR could have become a cult hero, a legend etc.
I'd be stunned if he ever became a consistent starter in the league for obvious reasons.


I assumed NIL money could be larger than NFL money, but I was wrong -- would have to be a huge NIL deal to get to an nfl salary package.

Any Gator should wish AR well. I’ve had plenty of criticism for him and he earned that but that’s just as a qb that has a long way to go to be nfl ready, he’s barely college ready. He’s a great kid though and why wish bad on the kid. He has a chance for lifechanging money and I’d bet on him hurting his draft stock if he came back. He may have gotten much better next year if he stayed but I can’t see risking the guaranteed money. I’ll be 55 next month and still install wood floors for a living. I dig it and somewhat enjoy the freedom of my job but get real, I’d not work another day if you gave me $10 mil or so. I’d be happy to be the biggest bust in nfl history and that’s the downside of his decision. He may play for a decade or more and get a couple hundred million. Good luck AR and enjoy what life has for you.

 

Most mocks still have Levis going higher than AR. So this “QB potential” phenomenon isn’t just AR related. Levis has lower upside, nearly as raw, and just as much bust potential as AR. The NFL likes their measurables

I don’t know how you improve a first round projection. You can’t go higher than that. Maybe you can show some progression by coming back and move from a 21st pick to the 5th pick …but it is a heavy risk. I really felt like he needed to get out of Gainesville anyway.
