what a fun game that was. The Yellow Jackets hadn’t beaten the dwags at home since 2014. uga was killing Tech in the paint. They had a 4 point lead with just 2:14 left and then decided to run clock and shot a 3 that missed. Tech was lucky uga ran the clock and shot a 3 as they weren’t going to stop them inside. Anyway, uga never scored again and Tech won 79-77. Good for them. Always good to beat your rival. I have many friends that went to Georgia Tech, so I know they must be loving this. Very similar to how we felt after we beat Florida State in Tallahassee to break that very long drought. Thank you Todd golden for helping with that.
Ahh . . . the old run the clock out dribbling around mindlessly and then chuck up a contested three. Sounds familiar
looks like if UGA could make a free throw, they would win the game -- 9-16, 56.3% is appalling. simple - make your free throws and you will win.
— They did miss 7, however, Tech missed 5 so both teams missed opportunities there. Watching the game, the announcers did mention Georgia had scored on six of seven possessions getting the ball inside. They were having a ton of success around the rim. I think the key point in the game was when they tried to milk the clock and stop doing what was working. Up 4 late and then they take a long 3, then leave Tech wide open for a made 3. And then Georgia didn’t score the rest of the game. I thought the Tech coach did a much better job late in that game than the Georgia coach did. Tech fans were probably really relieved to see Tom Crean fired. They hadn’t beaten UGA since 2014 in Atlanta, so they welcomed the change. Good for them. Always great to beat your in-state rival. So glad our gators and Todd Golden got a much needed win in Tallahassee. Fun times.
Georgia basketball fans (didn't know they exist) were already mocking the Golden hire because of our losses while celebrating their 3 game win streak. Glad they are getting a dose of reality so soon.
