Like the ones paying teenagers millions of dollars or the ones expressing an opinion on in essence an online opinion board?
I've said 100 times on here AR needed another year. Another year would have helped him in the NFL and extended his career, and increased his earnings by tens of millions. He's just too immature and inexperienced. But IMO an NFL team will take him in the top 10 of the draft. The combine and the pre-draft buzz takes on a life of its own, and AR will kill it. He will dominate the combine and an NFL GM will get all googly eyed, and he will be drafted early. I think things will go awry then but he will make some money. (How long he keeps it is another story.)
There's no way teams don't see who he is right now. If he gets drafted in the 1st round I really think it's to sit behind a vet for at least 2/3 years. It's the only way it'll work.
i never thought he should stay, as he obviously was set on going to the NFL. He can turn out to be a great NFL QB, however I never believed he would be drafted in the 1st round. I hope for his sake he is a high draft pick, but i don't see an NFL team using a first round pick to take a risk on him with the accuracy/consistency issues he has.
Nah like the ones wishing that a 21-year old fails in his career. There's nothing sane or rational about that sort of behavior.
They also look at the receiver corp he has thrown to. It's not just looking at a stat line like some do.....
Wish he would have stayed next year and worked on his craft. That was what nil was supposed to be for…oh well.
Well frankly, so did I. We had a ... bad receiver corps this year, but we also saw some serious issues throughout the year as far back as the UK game.
Best receiver we had was Pearsall, might be a 4th or 5th round pick. Shorter comes out early and after his 40 time at the combine gets posted will probably be a UDFA. Henderson showed flashes, but needs to become a better route runner and was injured and missed multiple games. (For those who whined about how fragile AR was, he only missed a few plays all season) The offensive line we heard so much about turned out to be much better at run blocking than pass protection, and our best lineman was not on the right side and could not help on AR's blindside. If not for AR's strength and speed, we probably would have had the most sacks in the SEC. Who knows, once he is surrounded by NFL quality players things might get easier for him. Here's another guy's opinion
Honestly I don’t blame AR for leaving. The fans are eating him alive because he’s not a Heisman winner. He had a couple bad games but generally had a pretty good year. They make up crap like he wasn’t running to save himself for the NFL, question his heart, question his love for teammates and the Gators, etc. Why would he want to stay with such delusional fans?
Roughly 99% of college players simply don’t care about the fans, so can we stop with that red herring?
First- while I agree the criticism isn't entirely fair, let's not act like it's unwarranted. The contrast between AR and Travis in the FSU game was laid bare. But even more importantly- if AR thinks Gator fans are bad, he's in for a rude awakening in the NFL. Jet fans, Giant fans, Eagles fans. Many more. All merciless. While yes he will get paid more in the NFL, it's still not an easy road.
Why would you want to stay on here with such delusional fans??You’re gonna be lost on here without him, imho.
He could end up being the greatest "what could have been?" story in UF's history. At the moment I think that award still sits with Cam Newton.
What do you mean with the comparison with Travis? Travis outperformed him. It was still our best QB year outside of Trask in like a decade
I doubt he’d get as much character attacks in the NFL as he does here. If he stinks he will get bashed for that, but not totally unfounded questions on his heart
Isn't he getting paid to play? I think NIL generally changes the dynamics since they are being paid to perform so it's fair game. I honestly doubt they read the sports forums, maybe they catch some stuff on twitter.
Mods are quick to trigger on other players but not AR I have no issue if you criticize play. I take issue when we criticize heart and character, especially without a real reason. “Not running enough to my liking” is not a reason
Like others have pointed out, he'll get it way worse in the NFL. Where do you draw the line now that certain players are making more money than most of the fans? Fans can't express their opinions because a well-compensated athlete might get their feelings hurt. Fans of every sport can be ruthless when their team isn't winning or performing up to how they "think" they should. This isn't a UF thing. I think AR represented UF with complete class and we are lucky to have had him regardless of performance. He brought no bad press to the school and for all he did I wish him the best.
