I hate Georgia more than any person on this site but saying KS is an average game day coach is crazy. He and Champ coaching the defense is elite. This is the truth and I hate it
So for Napier (from comments on this board during the season) you could list play calling and clock management as factors in your rating. What are you using for Smart’s rating?
Hey, Leg-Humper, we don't have to make sense nor be factual when we critize uga. Don't like it, leave and don't come back.
Excellent post and point. One I haven't really thought about before. The problem is that all of the elite talent seems to be going to a group of 4-6 schools. If that talent is more spread out, NFL style, that elevates the Gators by sabotaging Georgia, Bama, and LSU. It also makes the game more schematic and less of the arms race for talent that we're seeing right now.
I don't think it's that we regressed as much as we got arrogant and stayed the same while other programs passed us.
Another option we have is run a bit of a gimicky scheme that changes the game to such a degree, you can win somewhat consistently on inferior talent. I'm not talking about the triple option, but I am talking about no-huddle, fast paced offense that keeps the defense on its heels. Think old school Oregon, UCF, and this year's Tennessee. That would be a high risk, high reward move though. I think the administration just wants stability right now, and that means doing things the old-fashioned way.
Thanks. Look at some of UGA's recent prominent players. Brock Bowers: From Northern California. What if he went to USC, instead? Jalen Carter: From Apopka. Imagine if he went to any of the Big 3 Florida schools. Kelee Ringo: From Washington state. Travon Walker: From Thomaston, GA. This is central GA so the Dawgs have a lot of fans there but it's also pretty close to Auburn. Jordan Davis: From Charlotte. Maybe if Mack Brown is back in the game a year or two earlier, Davis goes to UNC.
I hear ya but they are gonna go back to back and probably another one after that. Whatever macro decisions he made earlier in his tenure has been corrected. When u have Todd Monken as a mouthpiece you are usually gonna be ok . They have without a doubt the best staff in America.
Patience is our key.. We don't have a choice. We have to give this every opportunity to be successful. 6-6 or 8-4 is about optics at this time, which makes a slight bit of difference. More importantly, course changes and adjustments by CBN in the upcoming years will determine our success. Kirby was able to replace some very good coaches that he lost, without missing a beat. Just like Saban has done. The fact that he brought Chump in to assist with the D has really helped him keep the talent and execution at a high level. We need to be patient and give this a good chance to succeed, even if it takes more than 2 or 3 years. This is a rebuild, not a reload. Building a new house from scratch.
