IF Walker gets into the Senate, look for zero committee assignments (unless it is to just gum up the works with bs). He will be told how to vote on the bills that come up, but hey he has an R after his name so go team!
Very powerful peace not so much on the politics but on mental illness in general. I did not realize how bad Herschel Walker's condition is. And I don't know that I realize how extensive CTE was among football veterans. I should but I probably turned it off as a psychological defense because I enjoy the game so much. Just horrible. He should not serve in the Senate but man is he damaged, largely due to football, although I suspect some of those pre-existing. Great read. A thoughtful piece. I have a little more sympathy for Herschel after reading but remain convinced he is not fit to be a senator. The brain damage he sustained from football that has led to such extreme behavior begs treatment and not executive function and decision making. Have to wonder about the people behind the scenes who thought he would be a good candidate and senator. Thanks for posting.
The same reason these other people are appointed to Congress. Someone can control them, in this case, Trump.
One person, a certain former president obsessed with celebrity, thought that Herschel Walker would be a good candidate and he was able to influence enough voters in Georgia's Republican primary to hand the nomination to Walker. What's still amazing is that Walker received as many votes in the general election as he did when his unfitness for office was so apparent. The only explanation is that general election in November was more like a European parliamentary election to a lot of Republican voters with the party taking precedence over the actual candidate.
If he's the first Senate candidate to acknowledge having a mental illness, that's progress we can be thankful for. The difficulty I guess is when someone who has struggled with mental illness seeks a job or leadership role that affords them power. How much leeway do we give them for things they did before they got treatment? Or what if they are not consistent in getting their treatment? If they are credibly accused of horrible things (such as assaulting women) that would disqualify another candidate, do we hold them to a lower standard?
I don't have great expertise in the area, so I hesitate to opine with any confidence. I applaud that he got treatment. I don't know when his last violent/psychotic episode was. If he has overcome that, good for him. But since I believe that his mental problems come from CTE, which has a much stronger physiological organic basis, again to my limited understanding, I just don't think he's capable of being a Senator, even if he might not have violent episodes.
Hershell going to win and it will certainly be a snapshot of US politics. No one is dumb enough to believe he is even a marginal candidate, but to own the libs. I guess Tubberville and Gosar will have competition now
If the current President & leader of the free of the world were to acknowledge that his cognitive abilities were in deep decline I would have hope as well. Not holding my breath.
DeKalb has only report 5%, so lots of Blue votes left there. They are probably just waiting to see how many votes they need to stuff in the suitcases ... LOL.

Yeah ... I was clicking around the county maps and the Red counties are starting to get tapped out ... 95-99%, and a lot of Blue left to count. But Herschel is currently in the lead by 25 thousand ...
Herschel Walker would be the dumbest member of Congress if he somehow got voted in, and that’s saying a lot considering the GOP already has mental patients like Boebert and MTG representing them.
