There are so many QB's hitting the portal that it's hard to keep up with them all. But I would not be surprised. I think Clemson's QB might also be the portal too. With all the QB talent out there we need a game changer.
I think most of us would be more than satisfied with a good game manager as next season will be another rebuilding season.
It seems the best QBs to get are the Stetson Bennett and Jordan Travis types who give you everything they have for all 4 years because they are not NFL caliber. Those 5 star guys who play lights out for a year to a championship are gone that very year 100% of the time.
Well Bennett has had some of the best defenses in history to help his cause. If those defenses are less than A+ those UGA teams are not in the playoff. Travis was a hard watch for two years. I don't think he's any better than AR if they swap teams this year. He was def helped by a easy schedule, the games where they played decent competition he was a below average passer. He killed UF with his legs, but is that because he was great or because our defense was that bad? If UF can get a decent transfer this year. The QB room should start to take form for the future, Rashada being the guy in 2 years or the end of next year.
I don't think Travis or Bennett are as erattic game to game, or even half to half like Richardson is. And from what I know, neither of the directly costs their teams a game like Richardon did for us with Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
He def had his ups and downs, I guess my point was if either of those guys are at UF, we aren't any better. 1 year ago Travis was splitting time with Makenzie Milton, and Bennett was 2nd string behind Diwan Mathis 2 years ago. Even Bennett last year, cost his team a game or two if that defense wasn't one of the greatest all time. Bennett and Travis both have better WRs and TEs than what Richardson had this year. I do think we could have won more games with just a game manager, who didn't have the valleys that Richardson had in some games. However, do we win the Utah game with anyone other than AR? Do we stay in the Tennessee game with anyone else? Even the LSU game was probably a beating if we have a "game manager" under center.
Agree.. both were benched in their first 10 starts. Bennett was 2nd string behind Diwan Mathis and Travis lost his job to MacKenzie Milton.
Agree, with just about everything. I think AR is still developing and will/could be an exceptional QB …IF, wherever he lands they recognize the development part of it and put him in the right environment. I just thought since mid season that it was never going to happen in G’ville. Those that are so adamant that he’ll never be a QB and should switch to a TE or something have no business commenting on the sport.
Bennett got hurt against us in the 2020 Ga-Fl game. He did get benched but it was more for reasons of an injury opened up the door for the former USC QB than otherwise.
Spencer Sanders from OKSt jumped in. I would put him at the top of my board or guys already in the portal. He has been a 3-4 year starter for Gundy. Leary would be a nice option as well.
Half the starting QBs in the ACC have hit the portal and none from Wake or UNC that people have been referencing. Humorous
Milroe looked very shaky when he was in. Hope they go with him, but doubt they will. Bet they bring in a portal slinger.
