Come on, man, he is still the 2024 front runner, he got to hand pick your primary winners in 2022, he’s still the center of the Republican Party.… just because you say you don’t support him anymore doesn’t mean most of the 74 million who voted for him 2020 wouldn’t vote for him again.

But if Biden, or some other democrat, ever approaches the level of “threat to democracy” that Trump has, then I’m sure we’ll get a thread on it…

You misread. I know they will vote for him. They arent voting because they "support him". They... As many of us do... See the progressive agenda as a danger to democratic values as well.

THAT is what they vote for.

As for the Biden part, of course that's true... Because, yay team.

Trump is leading every republican poll by a decent margin. How do you figure 'they' are voting for him (as opposed to voting against the Democrat)? When they have their choice of any Republican, they still choose Trump.

Polls dont decide things. Lets see how it plays out when some actual campaigns happen. Right now, hes the only one thats spent two years campaigning.

It's not like people haven't had enough time to make their mind up about Trump. Everyone knows who he is and what he stands for and still a very large percentage of Republicans support him over other Republicans. Poll after poll shows that. So you can stop pretending like Repubs are only voting against the Dem.

Yeah, but when pollsters ask republicans “who do support for 2024” they mostly say “Trump”… out of the 300 million other names they could say, they want want Trump….

Also, it makes no sense to excuse their actions by saying they are concerned about saving democracy. They are not. It is clear to me that most republicans would flush democracy down the toilet if they could install a dictator they admire.

I would say a majority of GOP voters outside of Florida probably do not know who Ron DeSantis is at this stage.

Post #676786778 by this poster describing US political conditions he WISHED existed but don't.

All of the exceptional citizens dressed head to toe in MAGA hats, Trump overalls, Trump bandannas and Trump slip on loafers with Let's Go Brandon flags attached to their trucks are members of a cult. They are taking the marching orders of their Dear Leader not protesting socialism or US policy in Taiwan.

I think Tilly is just trying to rationalize his own vote for Trump in 2016.

    What a misrepresenting post. :/

Those people are not who I am talking about. THOSE people support Trump. I am talking about the millions of conservatives with Zero bumper stickers, Zero flags, Zero hats and who think the Brandon thing is stupid.

THOSE people are ths ones voting against the progressive agenda while not supporting Trump the person

Stop trying to create fights out of thin air. You guys look silly.

Why would i rationalize something that I have said many times publicly was a mistake and a bad decision?? I make no bones about it.

What I am doing is being honest enough not to label everyone the same. I do it for the left too. Perhaps some of you should be honest enough to state that fact too.

I dont condemn Browns fans for remaining loyal to their team because their QB is a lowlife. I am however on the record here that had the Dolphins signed him, they would have lost me for the duration of his tenure.

You can 1. Support your "team. 2. Hate its leader.

I personally couldnt do it anymore. That doesnt make others the anti American, facist monsters that the some extremist posters here want them to be.

Team GOP? I left that team in 2019.
I swear you guys cant see anything but deep blue and deep red... and anything that isnt in lockstep with deep blue is automatically "gop" .

All the deep red posters that ran away to their safe space really left a void of targets for the blue majority here so now anyone who isnt team blue is the enemy. I get it. I embrace it. I want nothing to do with either extreme side anyway.

But your inability to see that...
    Thats a you problem. :)

Because he has never stopped campaigning. He 8s what they see and know. He may end up being the choice, in which case i will vote against him again., But until he has official competition and people strategically opposing him in a tangible way, he is the choice.

Many of us feel (hope) that changes when the campaign really begins

They're silent now, but there's a good chance many rank-and-file GOP officials will be repeating some version of Trump's comments. Repeatedly, consistently, since at least 2016, Republicans follow Trump's lead with which quiet parts they start saying out loud. Unless his comments lose him a huge chunk of supporters in the next two weeks (unlikely), I suspect this will be a 2024 rallying cry of the same crazy contingent that ran on "Stop the Steal" in 2022.

The only bright side I see is that I'll get a quick chuckle when Herschel Walker tries in the coming weeks to articulate this same message, but somehow butchers it instead to something like promising to actually eat the Constitution if he's elected. And then I'll go right back to depressed when large groups of Georgia Republicans start chanting "Eat it up!" at his rallies this month.

That’s absolutely ridiculous. They vote for him because that agree with him and support him.
