Bad call of the game: Two Stetson players fighting each other for the ball and the ball goes out of bounds. Stetson inbounding. After an 0-4 start from the arc the Gators went 9-11 and finished with a high percentage. This time Richard was the Gator on fire. Was Fudge our leading rebounder? He seems to have a nose for the ball. And I thought he had a rebound right before the end of the first half but it was never reflected in the stats posted on the O'Dome boards.
I thought the charging call on kugel was actually a flop. Then they run down, kugel just waves his arms and didn’t touch him, foul on kugel. He got three BS calls on him today. They were pushing and hacking him every time he had the ball, he only got one call. He always has a serious demeanor, competitive, the refs are getting on him. CTG needs to tell him to smile more. LOL
He is getting better doing one thing with the ball movement being quicker. CC has the same problem KR had. Holding the ball too long. If he and Castleton make quick decisions with the ball and keep it moving, someone will be open. It’s fun to watch as these two players are being coached to make quick decisions. CC when he dribbles to much, he gets in trouble and usually loses the ball. KR when he thinks too much, he then forces shots or loses passes. To their listening to these observations from their coaches, they are getting better. This is helping the team go. As a team they see the talent and keep getting better on ball movement on offense and even the defense pushed this team way outside their comfortable shooting areas. UConn is loaded, I know the guys are excited, we need to keep sharing the ball and playing good defense. P.S. Myreon Jones was steady at guard tonight, great defense and scored a couple of times. It helped run the team smoothly as Lofton didn’t play. Go Gators!
We definitely looked sharp against the two “cupcakes”. Hopefully that is the team that shows up vs. UCONN. We could really use a signature win to get back on schedule.
FAMU is pretty bad, and Stetson would finish last in the SEC. That said, at least Stetson plays competitive ball, so I think the game yesterday was maybe our most complete game of the new season. Not counting our shaky start on offense. So there's room for optimism when we play UConn, who has so far looked like perhaps the best team in the country. They've been crushing every team they play. I like that CTG is tinkering with the starting lineup, but I still think it needs to include Will Richard. He can make shots when everyone else is shooting blanks.
