I have a theory. Them Mormon boys succumb to all the alcohol vapor in the shouts/screams of the vociferous fans in the swamp. That combined with moisture in the air (do they even have that in Utah?) and a particularly greasy waffle house breakfast had them sweating like pigs while their heads were spinning and their bowels rumbling. either that or early season games have a higher probability of variable performance.... Nah I'm going with covered smothered hashbrowns for the win.
Only because of COVID year. They were 6th year seniors. And the RS juniors, were on their 5th year. Nayquan was a 4th year RS sophomore, for example. We played 5 true freshmen quite a bit, but we otherwise were not really young. We have 12 more that must leave the program, and so far, the transfers are older guys that are burried on the 2 -deep. I suspect that our top 44 next season (full 2-deep) will be younger overall. We're going to rely on players within their first 3 years in the program - for the most part - next season.
That is the mystery. Talk has been all year long in that we don't have enough talent, yet we beat a darn good team in Utah. Keep in mind, Utah had been game planning against us for a long time as well. It was said Utah's D was young, lots of new players, yet they progressed. Personally speaking, that's good coaching. We seem to want to focus more on our lack of talent than on coaching and development which gave us a lousy 6-6 record, losing to all our rivals. We really have little choice at this point than to trust our coaches will turn things around, it's a wait and see process. I think the consensus of most gator fans on this site is BN rates a C or C-. No way should we have lost to UK and Vandy, not with the talent this team has. On a side note, in hindsight I wished Foley would have hired Utahs coach KW instead of Muschamp or Mac. KW is one heck of a coach. He has done far more with less talent than many coaches who have more.
So we just need to bail out of the SEC and join the PAC 12…we can win every year..almost feels fsu like
If you guys still don't know how we beat a very talented Utah team then you haven't been paying enough attention to our QB play this year. And the defense played well in that game too. Many of the games we lost this year were not because we had less talent than the team we played. That is a fact.
Because Billy got cute and changed his game plan. Worse yet, he let his DC get cute with coverages too.
Utah gets plenty hot. What they couldn't handle is the humidity. Most people have an idea of what elevation does but people who have never lived in an arid climate do not know how physically draining exertion can be when are not used to a high humidity environment. Imaging going for a jog wearing a wet t-shirt wrapped around your face.
I thought the swamp was really rocking that game. I don't think any teams out west have that atmosphere. When the gator fans bring it full throated, it is very hard to beat us at home.
Well of course. And obviously a new coach is going to have built-in opposition, so it’s not a shocker. I mean there is a pinned two post thread about it.
We discussed this quite a bit after the game. It was actually a very pleasant night with very little humidity. Don’t think weather/climate played any role that night although us Gator fans had hoped it would.
