He looked the part, then the plays would start, way too stiff. He would be better off putting on a few pounds and being an outside backer, imho.
Actually, we will probably see as many as another dozen or so "leave" before ESD. This is absolutely not unexpected and is the result of several factors that have led to this situation.
Being at 13 departures now, with so many non-contributors still in house, a total of 32-37 total departures wouldn't be that surprising. Clearly, there is some real talent coming available thru the portal and if there was ever a time to rebuild the roster in a hurry, this is it. Much depends on who we can land on ESD, but if we can load up there, and in the portal, the final number could surprise even me.
Yeah. I have no idea what he did in practice, but I really liked his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and actually thought he might eventually see the field more. Since he is a 4-4-4 transfer, he may have to sit a year, unless he graduates.
While it isn’t the most humane seeming strategy for identifying quality, Darwinian selection via trial and replacement will always be the best one. It’s just too hard to evaluate players in advance and predict exactly how they would fit on your team. And perhaps there is a more humane element underneath, as if a player isn’t the right one for your team, it might be best for both parties to make that clear.
That’s what you’re seeing. My guess is the coaches are meeting with all the players and the ones that are saying “story still being written” on their tweets are staying. Others are declaring for the draft or announcing transferring on Twitter if they don’t see or agree with their role moving forward.
An apt example, though I realize many do not like him, Elon Musk culled his SpaceEx employees 10% every year, but had a never ending stream of applicants because his spaceships went up while Blue Origin's spacecraft stayed in design phase. One company simply showed a ruthless pursuit of getting the most out of its employees while the other couldn't stomach what that takes.
Good for Nayquan. We all knew he wasn’t good enough, and good on Napier for adjusting the rotation as 2&7 started to blossom. Stuff like this was always going to happen…..I respect the hell out of Wright. Hope he has a great year somewhere else, and possibly gets drafted
Roster Clarity - Classification (big roster turnover looming) Has to be 12 as of this moment, if we're taking 30 (which GC writers say we will)
Both he and Wright are really good backs, that seem like great kids, and hard workers. Teams will be lucky to get them, but they needed to leave for themselves. And we needed them to leave. They just weren’t going to get carries here. Hope they have great futures.
Running back is one position on this team I feel we have covered with montrell, Trevor and Webb coming in.
