Jalen Kitna [Arrested-Charged-Released on Bond]

All the expletives smdh.

 

A question about this on a legal lever (and no, this is not the ole' "asking for a friend.") For him to be charged, did that mean that he actually downloaded the pictures onto his computer, or is looking at that on via the web (and not downloading) the same? Either way, it's gross and wrong but I just wondered.

 

It has already been stated he had the images on his phone and probably computer.

 

Actually there’s a lot of places to get help with pornography addiction. It is a nasty nasty addiction, worse they say than heroin. And like any other addiction you need harder and harder core, hence the reason he probably wound up in those chat rooms.
I for one believe the young man can be reformed with professional help and that’s what I am praying for.

 

I know that his images where downloaded on his computer and phone, but is that how it has to be for everyone to run afoul of the law?

 

I sincerely hope you are right. I just hope this got caught when he was viewing and not acting on his desires. I think I am done posting on this thread.

A good friend of mine from UF also went to UF law school but isn’t involved with criminal law. Due to that he said he wasnt familiar with what the “scoresheet” was but presuming no priors that he would do “nowhere near” that max time of 15 years and all sentences would be concurrent.

That’s good news for the kid. But as others said - he needs help. Hopefully he can get his life under control. And hopefully this is all just pictures he’s looked at and no actions on his part. Both are disturbing. But the latter would be horrific.

According to the police report, some of the images seemed to have been taken by Kitna. At least that's how I read it...he was POTENTIALLY the source/producer of some of them.

I have no trouble reconciling evil with rehabilitation. This was clearly no passing curiosity or a one-off event. Some of his texts/chats/statements seem to indicate he knew it was wrong, but rather than ask for help, he chose to satisfy his urges. So I hope he gets the help he needs and never does this again, but based upon what I've read, I also hope he gets the max and that he has to suffer the consequences of his actions for the remainder of his life.

 

If this were simply "pornography addiction" he wouldn't be out on bond, facing felonies.

I agree that you can seek help for that, but we're talking about something much different.

 

I’m an Old Testament kind of guy. Let him face the consequences.

 

I don't think he'll avoid the consequences, for what it's worth.

 

Not defending him at all but this is likely not correct. The reference to “self produced” from the release means it was a selfie someone else took that has since been circulated on the internet and he downloaded.

 

I allowed that and may have been wrong to do so. I apologize. I'm leaving both posts up to clarify.
