If we turn down a bowl game, we should not get any bowl revenue from any of the bowls the SEC plays in. Now if you want to change the rules allowing a 6-6 team a bowl game, go for it, I'm all for it. I felt the day they allowed a team who doesn't have a winning season to play in a bowl game, that it killed what made the bowl games so great.
I agree people are overvaluing the extra practices. Our team will look completely different next season.

Well, if it’s UCLA, that would be pretty cool. My main fear is another Oklahoma type performance where several key starters sit and we get manhandled. As long as that doesn’t happen, then of course, I’m 100% supportive of a bowl game acceptance.
It puts a lot of pressure on the coaches to get the team up for what amounts to a meaningless game and the staff doesn't need another L against their record. Is it worth an extra 15 practices for a lot of players that won't even be on the team next season? Maybe they should just treat it like a tryout camp for players they feel have a chance to contribute in 2023 and not care about the results of the game.
The discussion of declining a bowl game is moot. As a member of the SEC, the university must accept the invitation. So why are we discussing it?
Biggest win? I would have to say aside from the feel good of beating aTm and usce, that Utah win is looking pretty good about now. The utes will face uscw for the pac title.
Well the game will essentially be meaningless for the opponent as well, so that's a wash. And again, those practices will be overwhelmingly for players that WILL be on the roster next year. I would add, caring about the results and using it as training for next year are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
Well, yeah. Bowl winnings get split evenly among all conference members, whether they participate in a bowl or not. So I, too, would have a problem if, say, Alabama decided the Outback Bowl was beneath them and did not want to go. Too bad. Go get the money.
A bowl like this is all about next year. I have no problem with Seniors opting out …or those that have draft eligibility. I would happily trade a meaningless bowl loss this year for an extra W (or 2) next year. 7-6, 6-7 …I really don’t care. If this experience gets the guys coming back prepared… then that’s what is important.
