I happened to see some of Kenny Payne's introductory press conference when he got hired back in like March, when they aired it on espn. He played his college career at Louisville, so he had a lot of friends in the audience and a bunch of former Louisville players. From what I gathered, alumni and fans largely gave their support for him to get hired. Before he took the stage, they said he was coming from being an assistant in the nba, and I thought to myself, "If he doesn't do well, a lot of people's feelings are going to get hurt." I saw they lost today, which continued to make them completely defeated. They are 0-7. I know they are coming off that whole Adidas scandal, so I'm not sure if that affected the roster or if they are dealing with any other issues. But 0-7, and not against a lot of top teams. I wonder how people are feeling over there in Kentucky. Yikes
I followed Louisville closely starting when I was 10 and for 40-years thereafter. With the way the let a new AD (years ago) unceremoniously dump Denny Crum, who built that program, it's ironic they turned to a Denny Crum player to take the job when it was circling the drain. It will probably never recover.
A proud program! Got rid of Petino and his cheating ways, now they are going to have to use the NIL/transfer portal to crawl out of the cellar. Ughhh!
They got rid of Petrino (football) and Pitino (basketball) but for the life of me I don't know who Petino is.
I guess Rick Petino who after cheating, lying and embarrassing himself, it was time to go! I guess I spelled Petino with the e because he was so slimey! LOL
I hope not but Auburn hired both Pearl and Freeze . . . so we know he probably will after the NCAA gets through.
Petino is the bastard half brother of Pitino and Petrino. His favorite flower is the petunia. His mother’s name is Petulia.
It's inconceivable to me that at this point in the season Louisville AND Cal are winless. I don't ever remember a P5 starting even 0-3 much less 0-9 or 0-11. With the amount of games they play and the cupcakes almost every team has early on, this is truly bizarre.
On the verge of winning their first game and they keep knocking down their free throws in crunch time so WKy can't cut into their lead, even though they keep scoring.
First time I’ve watched them. Bad defense, and defensive rebounding, silly turnovers, you can see why they have struggled. But happy for the kids, sucks to go through that at a place like Louisville.
Louisville basketball greats honor coach Denny Crum The glory years. I bet Coach Crum could guide them to a few wins even after being retired for 21 years.
