Was talking with a friend the other day about what our o-line might look like next year. O'Cyrus could definitely declare for the draft if he wants to. Who’s back next year?
Depending on the draft/portal, looks like everyone has eligibility left. 52 Jalen Farmer OL Fr. 6-5 334 54 O'Cyrus Torrence OL Jr. 6-5 347 56 Christian Williams OL Fr. 6-4 57 David Conner OL Fr. 6-5 295 58 Austin Barber OL R-Fr. 6-6 312 59 Hayden Clem OL R-Fr. 6-2 295 60 Jackson Crozier OL Fr. 6–2 292 61 Nicolas Flynn OL Fr. 6-2 279 64 Riley Simonds OL R-So. 6-3 289 65 Kingsley Eguakun OL R-So. 6-3 301 66 Jake Slaughter OL R-Fr. 6-5 292 67 Richie Leonard IV OL So. 6-2 318 70 Michael Tarquin OL R-So. 6-5 320 73 Mark Pitts OL R-Fr. 6-6 313 74 Will Harrod OL R-So. 6-4 325 75 Kamryn Waites OL R-Fr. 6-8 373 76 Richard Gouraige OL R-Jr. 6-5 308 77 Ethan White OL Jr. 6-4 331 78 Yousef Mugharbil OL R-Fr. 6-5 311 79 Jordan Herman OL So. 6-8 370
One thing that has been solid is offensive trench play. Building from the inside out is a winning strategy. Just need to keep that and build.
Torrence is the top rated OG and 5th rated offensive linemen by NFL scouts. He's gone. His former teammate at Louisiana, Kamryn Waites, will probably take his place. I expect a couple of the younger guys to enter the portal. But if White, Gouraige, Barber, Tarquin and Eguakin come back, we'll have another really good O-line. Where work needs to be done in the off season is finding a consistent QB, upgrading virtually every position on the defense, especially in the trenches and bringing in a couple of big time wide receivers. I expect lots of new faces on the team and a lot of turnover in the current roster.
Lots of turnover means a tough season ahead. Im all in with CBN And ‘tough season’ means turnover, perhaps a new QB, hard games home and away. ‘tough season’ does not = losses.
There was an article 1-2 months ago on GC that 3 OLinemen would have to decide on whether to come back for covid year or not. White, Gouraige, and 1 more - forget who. I am not saying they will or won't, I am just saying there is a choice to make. They are not "straight" Juniors, so to speak.
Please no more Kingsley. For the love of God. Most penalized lineman in power 5 over a 2 year span. I can’t take it any more… and yet, I will. I will sit there and take it right along with 7-5. Woof. Being a Gator is gonna be hard for a couple years.
That’s something I’m worried about. He and White will eventually be playing on Sundays, just don’t know if they test the waters this year or not.
A lot of positive posts on this thread about the Gator O linemen. As the season wore on, we saw this o-line improve in skills and gel as a very coordinated unit. They are not great yet, but they show a lot of promise and great plays. This scenario sets the Gators up well for the future. A lot of recruits will be signing up and o-line players coming in via the portal. With a good O-line even an average o-backfield and receivers will look great. Imagine how great when the elite players come to the Gators.
Torrence is an OG, correct? Wouldn't a 6'8" OL be more likely to play tackle? We'll need a 7'-tall QB to see over the top of him, if he's on the interior.
Has Barber been one of the biggest surprises on the team this year or what? Guessing Braun would think so.
I am waiting to see what the other Louisiana transfer Waites can do with another year of experience in the system. 6'8" 373..yikes
