His sell to 3 stars would be come play for me and start or go to big school and sit and be depth. All while being close to home in state so your parents can watch you play.
He’s marketed himself as being “all about the money” since day 1, going from a $300,000/year job to a $5 million/year job would be pretty on brand for him.
Don't disagree but he is claiming his motives for coaching at a HBC are more altruistic. I see it as more a means to an end for personal gain which isn't how he has painted it. Its smart on his part actually i just think he could maintain that narrative and still make the jump if he actually stays where he's at for at least a graduation cycle.... FTR I don't "hate" Deion and don't particularly follow him but since he has been the subject of recent topics I felt like chiming in.
I agree it would be a better look for him to wait until a graduation cycle passes, but in this business you gotta strike while the iron is hot. These college coaches are like politicians, I don’t trust much of anything they say lol
I've had a few back-and-forths with people here about whether Deion is a "good" coach, but. 1. He's absolutely a good recruiter 2. So far, he's been a winner. 26-5 overall after taking over a 4-8 team. 11-0 this year. I want him as far away from the state of Florida as possible.
I hear ya. Anyone with two nicknames is all about marketing. I actually kind of like Prime, but he is all about Prime.
TBO the other tenant of Raymond James might be better off with him. The Bucs made a terrible decision promoting Bowles.
Yep. Other rumors point to a major bonus if the coach can take USF to a P5 conference. That would position Deon for his next stop (unless he wanted to stay at that point) and position USF to look at established coaches vs up and comers.
I mean lets be objective. He could be the guy that moves them to P5 and gets a stadium built. At that point he doesnt need to leave. Live in one of the greatest areas in the country. No income tax. No pressure. Become the king of the university. Get accolades galore for doing all that. FSU looks to have a guy
He may be a problem for Florida, but also for FSU, Miami and out of state teams like LSU, Bama Georgia and others.
How can you stand to watch him? It's bad enough to see him with little Nick and those godawful AFLAC commercials. (I understand, of course, that Nick needs the money.) One thing for sure, wherever he goes he will make sure that his players go to class. Could anyone set more of an example?
After all, “The Deion Rule” passed by the Florida Legislature for mandatory class attendance originated b/c of him NOT going to class his Sr. season.
I saw him once on TV on the Jackson State sideline. There was the head coach wearing a hat backwards. I was surprised that he wasn't wearing his pants down around his knees.
Ive heard that too, not sure why he would make that move, figured he would get a lower P5 job but maybe the shine wore off a little this year. I guess the resource are better but USF seems like a pretty lateral move
