I don’t know… I think we might hear that this was a lineup change/tactical decision…. though outward appearances suggest otherwise.
I think if we hear that, then he is protecting the player....cannot imagine a tactical decision that keeps him entirely off the court for this long
Kowacie is making 44.4% of his 3’s this season along with a 2-1 assist to turnover ratio. I have not focused on his defense, do I won’t comment on it. Obviously, he has been light years better than Jones (who continues to get playing time), so something else is going on.
the last 10 minutes of the WV game would have been a perfect time to put him in and see if he is fulfilling his role
The truth is there is an issue and people have a right to know! There is no hiding , it’s right there in front of us to see . and yes send him home for personal reasons if you have to hide it.
Nah, we want to know, but I don't think we need to know. Kid was all but gone last offseason, I'm betting we find out something soon enough. He either is in or out, it will work itself out
It was evident in the 1st half of the FSU game. He gave up at least 3 offensive rebounds and his on-ball defense was nonexistent. CTG took him out during a timeout and he never played again. I am not sure what happened afterwards or at follow up practices. It is confusing why someone in the media has not flat out asked coach for specifics. Just sharing what I noticed….. Go Gators!
I personally just cannot believe that it is to send him a message about his defense and/or rebounding. This team gives up damn near 90 points to the opponent with or without him so no way he deserves to be singled out like that.
On TOS, a poster mentioned something that inferred that UGA and our previous coaches are tampering with Reeves to transfer there. “I am not friends with him but was sitting next to Akeem Miskdeen this weekend and he had made a comment about Kowacie going there.” It would make more sense if this is the reason Golden isn’t playing him.
Golden has said no disciplinary reason for Kowacie not playing…. Just short end of the stick on some rotational mismanagement., Eh. I like Golden. I think he will be really good. But there is something he isn’t saying… perhaps for reason. Botching rotations might explain kid getting fewer minutes. It certainly doesn’t explain a starter, and a preseason offensive focal point recording two DNPs and 8 minutes over 3.5 games. But all’s well if it ends well. Hopefully Kowacie capitalizes on his time. I think he is critical to team success.
Wha? Was there a presser? Yeah, this doesn't cut it. This is no better than silence - clearly you don't forget wacies on the bench. I sure hope he's protecting the player but I have a hard time coming up with a plausible scenario for that, given how he travelled and made a cameo...
A new, yet outdated column I wrote. We’ve since gotten some “answers”. The Curious Case of Kowacie: Florida Gators basketball | GatorCountry.com
A reasonable take, but when coaches choose to do this, they are effectively and intentionally moving the rumor mill from low gear to high gear. To me, something happened at the SWAC game (maybe in the locker room, kind of hard to imagine a negative given how the team came out to play); Reeves didn't play in the 2nd half. Was it one incident? Was it a continuous incident? Did he start to correct any perceived wrongs and didn't do it well enough or the right way (re: 8 minues against Oregon State)? Like AKA mentions, Golden can narrow this down a little more without spilling all the beans (not sure we have a following sign. Like AKA also might say, I don't think we have the following to really make a difference in terms of how much rumor is generated. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
I think generally when the coach doesn't narrow it down it is to protect the kid....which I'm ok with
