I don't know. Trump's latest embrace of the far right seems to be upsetting a lot of them. White supremacists and Holocaust deniers tend to bother people.

Not as much as 4 more years of Biden would.

Hanging with Fuentes made it a bit more obvious, don’t you think? But I’m sure you’re right about his most ardent supporters.

If DJT loses the primary, he will shout "rigged," "fraud," etc. and encourage his supporters to stay home.

I think you need to go talk to the mod who thinks most Trumpers are non-racist, non-supremacist fine people and a few rotten apples are spoiling the Jim Dandy barrel.

Although it's certainly upsetting the leadership of the Republican Party, I wouldn't be so sure about the rank and file Republicans who actually vote in the primaries. Unless the Republican Party changes the way it allocates delegates Trump could easily win the nomination with well under 50 percent of the primary vote as he did in 2016. Not a prediction but a real possibility.

If Trump is the nominee Biden will be re-elected.

Republicans are in a pinch, because if they institute super-delegates, Trump will use that as evidence they are plotting against him and it could turn ugly quick. I think Republicans best bet is to allow Trump to destroy himself, which he seems to be doing. Also, probably in GOP best interests to coalesce behind one candidate.

But yea, it could end up with Trump winning the nomination against and then a landslide win for Biden in 2024. Question is how does DeSantis wrestle away the loyal Trumpers. May not be possible.

Yep, I imagine his anger at DeSantis and the Republican Party will far outweigh any chance he attempts to help them defeat the Democratic nominee.

We're assuming that this rhetoric won't wear thin with GOP voters. While there are still quite a few election deniers now, I think the "claim it's rigged if we lose" strategy is on its last legs. Also, I think GOP voters will prefer DeSantis to Biden, so staying home is probably not as big a problem as you may believe.

Yep, trump has a stranglehold on a core group of supporters that if there are 3 or more R candidates in the primaries with him, he has a good chance of winning to the detriment of the entire country.

DeSantis needs to be able to demonstrate why Trump is the wrong choice to that core group you speak of. There is evidence that core group is fracturing off already.
