I'm curious if the constant complaints about how bad the team talent is isn't a major part of squelching rectuitment that no competing coach could ever accomplish. Who wants to play with bad teammates and a terrible coach that can't do much right? Hop on the carousel.
At least there we know we have a Coach that has tasted Natty accomplishments and understands what it takes.
You know what I like about this team? They all seem to be a nice group of guys. You know what I don’t like about this team ( sometimes), The exact same thing! They don’t seem to have that get down, get dirty team personality, when the opposition is determined to push us around, grab, hold and give you that extra hip or elbow.
That was one of my issues with MW, that we were too "milk and cookies" for my taste. Hoping that is not the case with TG.
Speaking of poor media coverage there was not even a mention of the Oregon State game in the Gainesville Sun print edition.
That game was a throw away and try to forget about it!! Nothing good to see on video and as a whole nothing positive to spin it.... As Belichick would say .. We're on to FAMU Go Gators!!
Wanted to wait a little bit before commenting but the start of this season has been a huge disappointment. The WVU game was an absolute embarrassment. I see some talent and depth, but thus far Golden imo hasn't shown he knows how to get the best from the team. Take the WVU game, no reason why Lane wasn't brought into guard Stevenson or any other scoring guards from other teams that Lane might be able to slow down. The way the Gators defense has looked so far, you'd think Golden would welcome a defensive stopper, even if it's for 10 minutes. Reeves not playing is a mystery as has been mentioned. I thought the team would be built around the guys coming back, but in reality it's been the opposite. Reeves has too much talent not to be playing. Right now, I'm just not seeing a great plan from Golden and he's shown very little so far in terms of defensive coaching. He seems to favor the new guys at the expense of the returning players. I understand it's very early in Golden's tenure and I guess there is time to improve, but so far this season, I haven't seen it. If this team continues down this road, they won't even come close to going 500 in conference. I'm hopeful Golden after the WVU game, completely re-evaluates this team, his lineups and how to get the team to gel.
