Since UF is expanding the home/home out of conference games, is there anyway we could put Nebraska on the schedule. I mean, they’ve been down as of late, and I’d love to get a little payback for Lawrence Phillips. (in the event of full disclosure, I’ve been known to hold on too sports-related grudges far to long).
I dont think he turns them into 95 Nebraska, but he did turn Baylor around in a hurry. He hired several really good coaches, and turned that program that was headed downhill into a team good enough to win the big12. Before Baylor he had Temple in back to back conference title games. He flopped in the NFL, but so have many other successful college coaches.
If we go to a nine game conference schedule when Texas and Oklahoma are admitted we may back off of that extra out of conference game on a home/home series with intersectional opponents. With Free Shoes U on the schedule every year that only gives us 2 games to schedule OOC. If we somehow manage to keep two lesser OOC opponents on the schedule I hope we can go back to having one very early on the schedule and one in the second half of season.
Bo Pelini had them pretty consistently good. They fired him for being a 9/10 win type guy. Rhule could be that kind of coach, too. I would think the NU fans have learned their lesson.
If we want real payback though we gotta wait until both teams are undefeated so we can throttle them to the tune of 60+ points
I don’t have to. He has to rule himself in. Nebraska has become a joke. They’ve tried the big-name hires. Fail. Tried to shake things up by changing conferences. Fail. Until they actually turn it around on the field, I’ll continue to give them as much thought as I do Colorado St or Boston College in a given season.
I want payback for the 1974 Sugar Bowl. We got screwed. Tony Green was in bounds! “Wes Chandler was Percy Harvin before Percy Harvin was born.”
That would be good for a year or 2. But Nebraska is a sleeping giant that Uf doesn't want to face long term.
