I think it’s rather fair to ask…. WTF?? It’s also fair to ask why it hasn’t been asked…. or answered. Only at Florida… truly, ONLY at Florida does a starter fall off the earth for 3.5 games… and there is no question, answer or explanation. It’s entirely bizarre. And if it’s as simple as Coach thinking other players deserve the time… so be it. That would be a very odd and sudden change of heart… but for Heaven's sake … SAY SOMETHING. The kid is sitting there on the bench, the subject of endless speculation. Talk about a way to entirely lose a kid… and maybe a team. Jeeesh.
This is what happens when there is no independent news media to question a coach, an AD, a governor, or a President. You rely on a shill, like Chris Harry, who works for UF, to tell you what’s happening behind the scenes at UF.
What's bizarre to me is that it was Reeves in the recent article who was praising the coaching change. He was saying how he played tight under White because he would get benched for one bad shot so what the heck is happening right now? I'm curious
If it was disciplinary, under the BD and I believe MW regimes, you would eventually find out it was because of being late to a team meeting or what have you. I don't remember a player who clearly was going to play meaningful minutes be benched without it coming out after the game, much less 3 games. Either TG is keeping disciplinary decisions under double super secret, he is injured and double super secret, or he is transferring out. IF its the latter would TG be so petty to not play him at all? It's really strange.
If disciplinary- it would be extreme and inconsistent. A disciplinary action would typically be a game… maybe two, if severe. This has spanned 3.5 games, and included a brief playing spurt versus Oregon State. He is not injured. That I know.
My take? CTG is a Joker fan and not The Riddler. Personally, I am more of a Catwoman fan. The original and not the current incarnations.
Somewhat disciplinary, somewhat Reeves isn't doing what coach wants him to do when he is on the floor?
If disciplinarian keep him at home and don’t even bring him on the trip. That’s a pretty pathetic move on a coach. I think it’s somewhat cruel to do that . Embarrassing that a starter is subjected to this . Honestly I’m not a fan of the early returns.
If it occurred on/during the trip what do you do? Send him home? Maybe, but unlikely unless very severe. Tough to make any judgements when we have no idea what the issue is. I'm generally in favor of coach keeping things in house if possible....better for the kid and the program. Can be frustrating for us on the outside, but truth is we don't need to know all the dirty laundry.
eh… I kind of disagree. I actually think it’s unfair to Kowacie to keep silent. If it’s a discipline issue… that can be stated without providing details. But I really don’t think that is the case. And so, you might have a scenario in which a kid is simply benched… and the lack of information has people speculating about discipline, scholastics, team chemistry… and whatever else.
Agreed. This has to be addressed publicly to some degree. Quickly. This is a bad look and in the absense of information - it's only going to get worse.
I mean....Kowacie isn't going to come out looking good under many scenarios other than injury. Pretty clear there is some issue, and whatever it is is negative. As for clarification, I aaume we get something once it is addressed by media. I wouldn't expect coach to bring it up uninitiated
Completely unacceptable to have one of your top 2 players on the team sidelined for a single game without explanation. And this is multiple games now. It can’t be because he’s not performing because nobody on this team is performing. We give up 80-90 points per game. They didn’t fight to get him back out of the portal to pin him to the bench.
