If musk wants to shed more money making a smartphone with a “free speech” OS it will end up here alongside this effort

“ESPN should have listened to Steve Jobs when he told the company’s president “Your phone is the dumbest f***ing idea I have ever heard.””

Who TF knows what Elon is working on?

Ok fanboy. I’m convinced. Elon is a god and has twitter all figured out how to be worth the $44B he didn’t want to pay for it.

Elon better be careful, all this free expression of ideas talk is liable to get him killed.

This has never been my point. My point has always been ok…let’s give him a couple years to try and figure it out, because he has a pretty compelling track record. Not saying he will recoup his $44 billion spend, but stating the reality that it’s way too early to declare that he won’t. Musk has a history of defying odds. Just proved Gates wrong about the Tesla semis.

So again, perhaps Musk will fail with Twitter. Perhaps he won’t. It’s entirely too early to declare either way. He does seem determined to try to improve it…

Wait, I thought Musk’s whole thing was allowing all expression. Doesn’t this seem the opposite?

He's allowing a lot of white supremacist just to clean out their online opponents. He's just a white supremacist at this point. He's even posting pro Hitler references, 14 88 stuff.

By the way, just saw Glass Onion. Rian Johnson really lampoons the Elon billionaire types

Interesting. I wouldn’t mind seeing what would happen with an “open” forum, whatever that is exactly, but trading one kind of censorship for another is decidedly less interesting to me.

I’m excited to see glass onion when it hits streaming. The first Knives Out was great.

Well you must be new to message boards cuz coaches get criticized in year one. Check out the insiders board. If you want to wait till year 3 stay off these threads.

My point is he likely won’t put Twitter out of business but recouping $44B will be seemingly impossible and trolling half your users is probably bad for business.

Elon Musk is the richest CEO in the world. Billy Napier is a first-year FBS coach who has compiled a 6-6 record. The world’s richest CEO gets a “wait and see.”

Musk is not trolling half of his user base.

Nope. No one is safe from opinions. Maybe he’s a god to you but he’s just a dude to the rest of us.

I think left wing and mainstream media have unduly piled on Musk in this whole kerfuffle. But I find this whole “free speech”’argument disingenuous. Nobody is proposing unadulterated free speech. Musk tried to assure advertisers Twitter wouldn’t become a free speech hellscape. So it isn’t at all about free speech, it’s where do you draw the line.

Not to mention it’s a private company not typically subject to free speech laws. The assertion that it is a “public square” in order to bypass the rights of private corporations to manage their business legally as they choose is just plain horse shit.
