Dont care. COY doesnt lose badly to 3 mediocre teams, Fla, Ark and Mizzou. And I dont think they have "far less talent". Still a great finish
Doering said today after another huge win for SC “ Kirby or Beamer”. That they lost to mediocre teams validates my point that they aren’t very talented. Did you have them winning 8/9 games this year? Nobody did. I had them for 7 and thought that was a stretch.
To me losing to 3 mediocre teams and then beating top 10 teams means the coach wasn't able to motivate the talent in those losses. As for expectations, agreed, but nobody had LSU winning the west and nobody had Vandy winning 2 sec games, so.... .
Hard to argue against Kelly....right up until getting blown out by a 7-loss A&M. Heupel will likely get the nod simply for the higher ranking, and having UT #1 (albeit for a brief week).
Given the results today it is Heupel. Beamer finished strong but overall a mediocre year Kelly would have been it but the TAMU loss ends it. They have been a little smoke and mirrors all year. Tennessee overperformed their talent level more than any other team in the SEC (and the country). That’s coaching
Beamer would get my vote. Far exceeded expectations and throttled a more talented Heupel team head to head.
If would have said before the year SC would have won 8-9 and beat two top 10 teams i Would have said no way.
8-9 wins for SC not mediocre. That is their ceiling given the talent he has. Tennessee has major talent that SC doesn’t. When you can lose your top receiver in Tillman and nit muss a beat because you have Hyatt and McCoy that’s a lot about talent.
In retrospect, I think Beamer gets it two in a row. The last two games, and LSU's major brain fart, sealed the deal. Heupel to me did not close the deal and lost BIG. I guess if they don't want to give it to him again, there is always Smart.
They’ve developed it. Coaching gets credit for developing lesser ranked players and then putting them in positions to succeed
A mediocre year? Since 2014, four coaches (Spurrier, Elliot, Muschamp and Bobo) produced a 24-48 (.333) record, an average of 4-8 over 12 games. Beamer's last two years was 15-10 (.600), the same record SOS had in 2005-6. This ain't Alabama. Going 8-4 with South Carolina is a solid record.
Thanks, what I’ve definitely trying to convey. They aren’t Florida with money, resources, weather, Etc. In fact it’s not even close. If they win 6-7 a year he’ll get a life time contract.
Respectfully disagree as I’ve mentioned for tons of reasons this was a huge year for them. Win a bowl and they’ll get to 9 wins and give him a monster raise.
