I'm fine with that line-up on the perimeter and CC at the 5. Defense at the perimeter has to improve or they will be run off the floor against tournament worthy teams. I just don't think you can outscore bad defense that relies on open guys missing shots.

I wonder what starting Lane would do for team morale.

Agree with your comments on Lane, he has been passed over for the reasons you listed. I’m not as high on Reeves. He’s a streaky shooter at best. He plays very loose with the ball and out of control at times. Not sure if that is why kid was benched for a game and a half but wouldn’t be surprised. If I compared Reeves to Richard, I’d give the athleticism nod to Reeves, but then Richard gets my nod in playing under control, fundamentally sound, more consistent shooter, rebounds the position well. I look back to the FAU game and remember thinking we’re getting almost no offense out of anybody but CC. Reeves almost disappeared until the final minutes when he rallied the team back with 8 straight points. That’s the kind of freakish athlete and streaky shooter that he is. He can have a game where he scores 20 and the next night score 2 or 4 playing out of control. I do agree with you that preseason I had high hopes for Reeves and expected him to be a young star. But I soured on him after watching the preseason scrimmage at the O Dome and the first couple games. Hopefully he can get it turned around as he could be a weapon going forward if he can become more consistent game to game.

The best thing Reeves could do is decide he wants to be the best defender, rebounder and passer on the court. Then grind away.

I did get to see the first few minutes of the Oregon State game in replay. We did well because they bricked a lot of wide open shots and we shot lights out.

    Not impressed with the D.

It wasn't GREAT defense. It was IMPROVED defense. At this stage, I'll take that and hope that it continues to improve.

Reeves can be a great player, but he's not one yet. He still thinks every shot is a good shot.

Watching him sit during the second half of FSU, he was sulking. And sulking again in the locker room post-game. The sulking, I assume, continued off-camera, and that's why he sat a whole Xavier game. His attitude on the bench during that game was much, much better, and he was engaged and cheering on his teammates. So he got some time against Oregon State. Now he needs to really pay attention to what the coaches ask of him, and he may return to the starting lineup at some point.

Glad to see the coaches don't believe in entitlement.

Indeed. And we have enough of a bench to use it.

Definitely need to improve our defense. If all you play is man to man with an occasional full court pressure, it makes it easy for other teams to prepare against you. Especially if your man to man is not very good. Would like to see Golden throw in some zone once in a while to help change game momentum and make teams adjust.

Good points, all. We should have gone zone against FAU for a couple of defensive series to see if that would take away the 3s. Take away the 3 and we win that one in a cakewalk.
