Perhaps if they added a "too" to the term it would help you out.
As in "Black Lives Matter Too".

Person B: "All lives matter!"

All Lives Matter is the thesis.
Black Lives Matter is the antithesis designed to supplant the thesis.
They are hoping to synthesize the two to accomplish their political goals.

If you are advocating for the thesis, then you are on the side of the oppressors. If you are advocating for the antithesis, then you are on the side of the oppressed. People who align themselves with the oppressors need to be marginalized and punished. That is how it works.

Overthrowing the thesis is important because the left wants to overthrow equality before the law and color-blindedness, which are ideas connected to all lives matter. They want to force the structures, systems, and the mechanisms of society to privilege the oppressed to compensate for oppression. They are after preferential treatment before the law, before corporations, in society in general, and black lives matter is an easy to say phrase that carries those ideas with it. It is ideological warfare. You cannot publicly oppose their ideology or you will be punished.

That makes it an afterthought. No bueno. All Lives Matter is better.
