Not as much as you think. Norvell is an average recruiter at best. Billy is already out recruiting him, even before the first snap this year. Believe it or not wins and losses don’t move the needle as much as you think.
It is frustrating being on the short end of these things so often. Especially juxtaposed against some of the calls last week.
Did you all ever see James Bates imitating SOS after we beat FSU in 97? Tugging on the goal post, saying come on, let's tear it down? Hysterical!!!
They were favored by 10, ranked 16 and beat an umranked 6-5 team, and they rushed. lmao. Desperation can make you do stupid chit.
They won’t, first because of class, Second because UPD and GPD will kick your ass if you try it. I’ve seen it.
No, I don't remember much of Saturday night either. We were staying up by the airport at the Days Inn, 7 or 8 of us in the room. I slept in the bathtub.
Lol. Are you making an excuse for them? Based on what you said, They could rush the field after every win. You missed why you don’t, and only thought of why they did. They were ranked 16th and expected to win by 10. You don’t rush a field when you have those in your favor, especially vs an unranked 6-5 team you only lost 3 n a row too. It’s not like they were Kentucky or a Vandy, who hadn’t beaten us since 1988, in their stadium.
Yep. I remember watching us do it once or twice in the early 80's. After that, cops with K9's would set up a perimeter around the goal posts. Fans would still go onto the field, but no one dared get near the goal posts. You would have a few drunks get close and taunt the K9's, but fortunately for them stupid never completely take them over. Soon after that, the cops would also set up around the field so no one would come on. Well, except for a few drunks and that's when the entertainment started. Some of those guys would get chased around the field for 2 or 3 minutes before finally getting pancaked by an officer and hauled off to the clink. There would still be tons of fans in the stands cheering the whole thing on.
I'll never forget the images of a kid running to get back to the stands and getting tackled by PD after trying to rush the field in 97 after the fsu win lol. Was about 20 rows up at the 30 to 35 yardline in our seats taking it all in. UF does not play that.
