No matter what schemes are employed you have to have twitchy players to be successful. Like twitchy receivers, twitchy linebackers, twitchy edge rushers. Last night was THEE example of the lack of those types of players at those positions. We held our breath all year and got exposed all year. Be honest, not one player in those position groups could get on the field when we were contenders.
100% correct with regards to WR. Mullen and Gonzales failed fo recruit SEC and UF caliber WRs out of HS and relied on the portal for everythinf. They hit gold in the portal, but that is not sustainable long-term. As far as DE we have recruited plenty of 4-stars out of HS. Same for LB. Wingo and James are 5-star LBs although inexperienced.
We’ve got plenty of twitchy guys. It’s just that Travis was twitcher. I don’t even know that we were missing tackles as much as Travis showed an uncanny ability to slip them.
Agree 100%. In basketball you cannot give up the baseline if you're playing good defense. It's fundamental. We routinely have defenders out-sprinted and the bad guy turns the corner for big yards on us.
James needs a bit of bulk and confidence. Hesitate for a blink and you are washed out or burnt. Shows possibility
The players have play what they are coached. You think a team full of 18 to 22 year old ball players do what they are coached and can respond physically every play?
