I disagree 100% I have met and talked to Coach..and all I can say is it is way too early to make that judgment...
I doubt any here (perhaps with a few exceptions) know the true inner workings of UF’s program. Certainly if I did I wouldn’t be posting about it here or anywhere. I’d bet there are some NDAs signed by people with that kind of inner knowledge. Perhaps I’m wrong
Exactly..one would not be posting out here..you got it I am only saying this cause you said you didn't believe it was in disarray...so do you know something
USF and their recently fired 1-10 coach called. Said not to forget about them. Not a talent issue against teams like Vandy. Sorry it is not.
We know what we have as a person. We know what we have as an organizer, leader, and molder of men. Do we know what we have aa a football coacb? As a guy who can scheme against a different opponent every week? As a guy who can extract every ounce of talent and production no matter how dry the fruit is? As a playcaller and game manager? We saw flashes and we saw duds. One week we are playing solid D as a cohesive unit, the next we are flatter than an ironing board and forgettinf football 101 with no situational awareness. We always said about SOS and Urban, “they will beat you with his and beat you with yours.” Can we say this about Napier? Can he get our guys to play above their talent level instead of playing at Vandy’s talent level? Can he stand above other coaches even when he doesn’t have a 5-star at every position? I can stomach losing if the Xs and Os are solid and the other team just had better players. That wasn’t the case last night.
The team was just inconsistent this year. It was the same last year, as these were the same guys. Being a 4 star or a 5 star doesn't help if you can't line up right or choose the right gap. On defense many times this year, you could see Miller guiding guys to line up correctly on defense. Who knows why guys that are in their 3rd year or longer can't figure out where to be on defense. Moreover, we had guys that were just out there doing their own thing for style points instead of playing team defense. Some inconsistency on offense. AR had times were he looked like he should be a Heisman candidate. He also had plenty of times when it looked like he shouldn't be on a football field playing qb. The only consistency all year came from the oline and the rbs. But when teams put 8 or more guys in the box and force you to throw with a wildly inconsistent qb, you won't win many of those games. We knew going in that margin of error was very low. In games where we made more mistakes we lost, or were in tight games with inferior talent. It is what it was.
All due respect, this is a rivalry game and big picture is irrelevant. Big picture was attenpted to be addressed all season....we hope. Win this game and do what got you the lead. Also, if we have a dearth of receivers why keep going to that well? Throw a wrinkle and use your backs. For the record I'm not a basher but believe the truths are in the middle of most of the detractors/supporters.
I don’t think we lost that game because of AR. He does however struggle with short passes quite often.
So all that is determined with players that have been loosely handled and not developed, players that gave up on the coach that gave up on them last year. Our current staff has been trying to coach out the bad habits...current staff is just coming up on the 1st year anniversary of their hire...they are trying to change culture, empathize family , character and being a good person and student/athlete...our roster has "holes" due to poor recruiting...this staff has a lot of rebuilding to a program that's been neglected by the last staff. Why don't we make those judgements on Xs and Os ( they did score 38 points last night) once he has more quality players and he has a chance to assess what happened this past year and make some changes..
Talent is definitely one issue. Here’s the culprit: Florida Gators HC Dan Mullen Talks South Carolina, Deflects Recruiting Question
Its going to be an interesting off season. Talent alone wont fix the issues, however with new blood coming in im hopeful it will also allow some of the coaches to up their game.
We dont have blowout the cupcake type talent right now. Especially on defense. I dont care how many stars Marshall has for instance. Dude could not cover a bed with an oversized sheet at times.
Tired of all the talent differential arguments. Cop-out. Mods, especially ones who start threads, and many others here, would rather eat glass than show any criticism of staff. Same deal with previous regime. Lack of talent? Well maybe hit the portal better a la Brian Kelly and Lincoln Riley. Both those programs were in much worse shape than us, player wise, leading into season. They managed to figure it out.
