Listen, I have been holding my breath for a LONG time and turned all shades of blue. I am not sure he is tuned in. Not sure why. I mean, the last shade was a REALLY dark purple-blue. If that does not indicate how serious I am well then, nothing will.

Okay, a less snarky post. I said right after the Kentucky game we have to endure his being the OC for the remainder of the season and expected one next year. Jeff Scott seems to be the perfect candidate. I will only say that, if he chooses to remain the OC/QB coach, that isn't going to sit well with this fan base. Then he gets to prove his process works next year, or else he is going to be in hot water at the beginning of Year 3. We shall see.

It certainly is a fact but it’s also an opinion that you can’t do big things in your first year as evidenced by the coach at Washington, the coach at TCU, LSU, etc, you can do big things. etc. on our forum and many other forums we keep hearing it’s his first year to me that’s not an excuse

I know right? But, you’ll hear “ they were two years removed from a natty”. 90% of those players were not part of the Natty.

I disagree. I’m simply saying it’s an excuse to say “well it’s our first year so losing to Vandy and all rivals was to be expected and ok”. There are some other current examples at Washington, TCU, LSU, etc. etc. that are winning big in their first year. I don’t accept that. Some do and that’s ok as we can respectfully disagree. I like Billy and have a great deal of respect for how he’s doing things. BUT, I have concerns with a few things for sure. You can like someone and still have concerns. BTW, If you don’t think Brian Kelly faced major obstacles and challenges walking into LSU then you haven’t read all the things I have read. The loan number of scholarship players alone was a major mess not to mention a locker room that needed to be completely rebuilt in terms of rules, processes, and procedures. Those are just two he faces but The fact that there was no structure at all the last two or three years i.e. discipline, accountability, etc. etc. would have made it tough on anybody coming in there.

Solid guy that is teaching to try to do things the right way on and off the field.

    looks like an excellent recruiter.

highly respected by all he comes into contact with.

    represents university very well.

    There’s more for sure.

We hired Napier because he had success at Louisiana where he was oc and qb coach.

Why should we demand changes here on his first year? It’s who he is.

He is a piss poor oc and our ad couldn’t figure that out and bought his program builder façade.

We will have to give him four years!

I agree. UF should never lose to UK or Vandy. If they didn’t, they sit at 8 & 3 with à chance to go 9 & 3. I don't think à reasonable gator fan will be disappointed with that record. I understand à squirrel occasionally finds à nut, but this is my nut danngit.
Anyway, as much as I want to give CBN and co excuses for losing to those 2 teams, they were outcoached. Nobody can convince me that UF's talent is lower than UK or Vandy. I can accept losing to LSU at home because they have owned UF on the past 12 years. BK is also à more seasoned HC.

Having a 4th fail in a row in coach hiring is something that all Gator fans should care about. If you're not worried about that happening then what the F* are you here for? You suck.

I don't even want to think about that, tbh. I'm just hoping that Billy can build a foundation for sustained success. Championships are the furthest thing from my mind.

In order to win championships again, we need to have a solid, consistent winning program. We haven't had that since 09.

Its hard to understand what some don't see. Is this a solid, consistent winning program anymore? I'd say no. We are so far away from what we were its not funny.
    This is 1979.

I am a true believer and will never ever pick against my team. I wear orange and blue glasses and I’m very very optimistic but that does not mean I’m not going to point out major concerns. My biggest concern is Billy has been outcoached several times this year by lesser opponents or teams that didn’t have our talent. Even though I know the odds are stacked against us tonight not only do I expect we will win but I believe we will win!!

i’m one of those dudes that never play a game going in, coaching, etc. etc. thinking there is any other expectation but to win

I didn't mean to direct that at him - it was just a cumulation of reading from posts with dumb observations that got to me even when I am familiar with how dumb that particular poster is. I've liked Shane's posts in the past, I guess that why I responded to his. I will admit there are things to be worried about as there are things to be encouraged by this season. I believe Napier is driven to keep working 24/7 to fix whatever's wrong with UF's football program and is smart enough to figure out how to do it. We didn't have that with our previous coach (the driven part).

He's certainly not perfect. I questioned some of his decisions as well. I can live with a lesser game caller and strategist, provided he offsets those with the kind of recruiting we need.

Over time, he can hire to his weaknesses too. What I want to see first and foremost is 4 and 5* coming in here. Without that, having the best game caller in the world doesn't get you where you need to be.

You were there, I started in 1980. We had a rabid football culture back then but NEVER had any real success. We'd never won the SEC. I could only dream about what happened later with Spurrier and Meyer.
We're not like we were in 1979. We have a brand. Agree with you about fading but we've got a long way to go to get to 1979 - we'll just have to disagree there. I'm encouraged by Napier's hiring but the drought you mentioned is due to UF trying to win on the cheap during the Foley era. Those days are over and we are going to give big time resources to our football program and if Napier fails, the next guy is going to get those resources.

He's not the QB coach O'Hara is. And Rob Sale is the Co-OC currently presumably splitting duties with CBN.
