lol y'all are the ones in here trying to change the "narrative" This was a hate crime targeting the LGBTQ community, IMO.
Him being non binary doesn’t necessarily change that. No one has changed any narrative. All that has happened is now we have more info. More data. Why the harsh pushback that he claims to be non binary?
I should teach my daughters that if a guy holds them against their will, that they should just love him out of it? That seems pretty terrible. I know what the point of Beauty and the Beast was supposed to be. The problem is all the other lessons it taught along the way. I agree that I don't understand modern Republicans. They are nothing like the GOP that raised me, and from what I've seen of them, I don't really want anything to do with them.
Details are coming to light about the alleged gunman who killed five people at an LGBTQ nightclub | CNN Perhaps this wouldn’t have occurred had Aldrich been arrested and prevented from legally obtaining a gun. There’s also the copycat factor.
Tucker Carlson guest blames LGBTQ "evil agenda" for Colorado shooting Florida political operative Jaimee Michell, founder of the controversial anti-trans group "Gays Against Groomers," told Fox News host Tucker Carlson that the mass shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs "was expected and predictable" and to be blamed on the LGBTQ "evil agenda" of gender-affirming care. Talking to Carlson about the mass shooting, Michell claimed that what's really hurting the LGBTQ community is labelling "groomers"—a term that falsely equates non-heterosexual sexualities and non-cisgender identities with pedophilia—an anti-LGBTQ slur, and said that tragedies like the one at Club Q will keep happening "until we end this evil agenda."
This is what the independent says about the bullying: The news site also uncovered evidence that Mr Aldrich was subjected to an intensely homophobic online bullying campaign prior to changing his name. His image, name and online aliases were posted to a website, and a YouTube account was set up under his name featuring disturbing animated content under the title: “Asian homosexual gets molested.” He's also not Asian.
Colorado Springs shooting suspect Anderson Aldrich is a registered Mormon He's a registered Mormon. Yeah guys he's totally non-binary
Works for me. Shrug Here is the text of the article: The alleged Colorado Springs shooter is a registered member of the Mormon church, a spokesman has confirmed. Anderson Aldrich, 22, was arrested on suspicion of hate crimes and the first-degree murder of five people at the LGBTQ venue Club Q on Saturday night. In a statement to Fox13, a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints spokesman said the alleged shooter was on its membership roll but “had not been active in some time”. “The senseless act of violence in Colorado Springs is of great sadness and concern to us,” the spokesman said in a statement to the Salt Lake City-based news site. “We are greatly troubled by any violence in our communities and condemn most especially violent acts that are the result of intolerance against any of God’s children.” The spokesman said it was “problematic” to disparage an entire faith based on the actions of a person who “did not exhibit signs of believing or associating with members of the Church”. The church had formally opposed same-sex marriage and gender identity until as recently as April, when the second highest-ranking leader Dallin H. Oaks reaffirmed the church’s stance. Then last week, the Church announced it would back proposed federal legislation to safeguard same-sex marriages. Mr Aldrich was born Nicholas Brink and changed his name just before his 16th birthday, according to a review of birth documents by the Washington Post. His mother Laura Voepel also appeared to be a member of the Mormon Church, and belonged to several social media church groups in Colorado Springs.
Found another link Colorado shooting suspect's links to Mormon church explained The man arrested in the Colorado Springs gay nightclub shooting was affiliated with the Mormon church, but has not been active "in some time," a church spokesperson told Newsweek. Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, allegedly went into Club Q with an AR-15 style gun on Saturday night and opened fire before he was subdued by patrons. Five people were killed and many more were wounded. On Twitter, many have suggested that Aldrich is a Mormon. His mother, Laura Voepel, appears to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, according to her social media accounts. Aldrich is "listed on the rolls of the Church but has not been active in some time," church spokesperson Doug Andersen told Newsweek.
It's a shame the poster who linked to the article (above in the quote) about the Army Vet who subdued the shooter got such little engagement here, guy's actions saved countless lives. An excerpt -- “Was he shooting at the time? Was he about to shoot? I don’t know,” Mr. Fierro said. “I just knew I had to take him down. The two crashed to the floor. The gunman’s military-style rifle clattered just out of reach. Mr. Fierro started to go for it, but then saw the gunman come up with a pistol in his other hand. “I grabbed the gun out of his hand and just started hitting him in the head, over and over,” Mr. Fierro said. As he held the man down and slammed the pistol down on his skull, Mr. Fierro started barking orders. He yelled for another club patron, using a string of expletives, to grab the rifle then told the patron to start kicking the gunman in the face. A person was passing by, and Mr. Fierro said he ordered her to stomp the attacker with her high heels. The whole time, Mr. Fierro said, he kept pummeling the shooter with the pistol while screaming obscenities. And man, disaster was averted in this instance, I guess we have to give the cops credit for showing restraint, despite the horror of considering what COULD have transpired -- As more police filed in, Mr. Fierro said he started yelling like he was back in combat. Casualties. Casualties. I need a medic here now. He yelled to the police that the scene was clear, the shooter was down, but people needed help. He said he took tourniquets from a young police officer and put them on his bleeding friends. He said he tried to speak calmly to them as he worked, telling them they would be OK. He spied his wife and daughter on the edge of the room, and was about to go to them when he was tackled. Officers rushing into the chaotic scene had spotted a blood-spattered man with a handgun, not knowing if he was a threat. They put him in handcuffs and locked him in the back of a police car for what seemed like more than an hour. He said he screamed and pleaded to be let go so that he could see his family.
A reminder that cut and paste quotes are limited to four paragraphs. I think we’ve got a couple that go well past that. Please edit. Thanks
I don't care if he's gay, straight, binary, non-binary, homophobic, or mormon, etc. He's another asshole with a gun who shouldn't have had one.
Self-loathing among gay people is nothing new. We’re overwhelmed by it | Matthew Todd Internalised Homophobia - Rainbow Project Psychiatry Online - CASE STUDY Treatment of Homophobia in a Gay Male Adolescent
First, non-binary and homosexuality are different things. One involves gender and the other involves sexuality as to whom you wish to sleep with. Second, there is no indication that he actually is non-binary vs. just using this as a defense. For example, when he was streaming during the bombing incident last year, here is what he says: So how is he non-binary but referring to himself as "your boy?"
