The world is full of crazies wanting to take their frustrations out on others with a weapon. So, yeah, weapons don't kill others, people do. But America is one of the few countries which make it so damn easy for them.

The NRA and gun manufacturers and camo-wearing macho wannabes who like to strut with their long barrels are as responsible for American Carnage as the shooters. I suspect their roads to Hell aren't paved, but greased with the blood of the children they enabled to be murdered by the crazies.

It didn't used to be that way. There's something very, very wrong in today's America, and I'm concerned and embarrassed for it.

Thoughts and prayers to the victims of this senseless crime. Also, thoughts and prayers of enlightenment to our leaders who absolutely need to make some pretty radical changes to our gun laws.

When the OP wrote "the subject has been beaten to death" my first reaction was good! Then I realized what he meant.

What a screwed up world we live in

Gosh there are many but start with closing the loophole on private sales. More stringent background checks for all purchases. Surcharge on guns and ammo sales to fund mental health initiatives.
I am a gun owner but am adamantly against the NRA and their politics.

I'm a firearm owner have been most of my life I'm not against stricter laws but what do you do with the some 400 million existing personal firearms, let alone the uncounted illegally owned ones?

I'm at the point where registration should be required for all new and existing guns. If you're caught with an unregistered one, confiscate and make the penalties very tough and expensive.

You offer a voluntary buy back program from the government and then you wait patiently for decades.

Well documented that I own many firearms across many spectrums. I have long lobbied for a tier licensing system. Mandatory training for each tier. I have no issue with background checks.
None of that will stop gun violence. All it will do is further the delimitation between the millions of responsible citizens that own firearms and the few mentally I’ll who get their hands on one and the criminals running around with illegal guns.
I’d also like to see far harsher penalties for anyone found with an unlicensed gun. Anyone committing a crime while carrying an unlicensed gun. Anyone providing an unlicensed gun that used in a crime.

Every thread: The other side is crazy.
Reply: They are crazy and evil.
Reply: They are crazy, evil and stupid.
    ....
Why can't we get anything done? A tragicomedy every day.

Hint, outside of a dictatorship you have to listen and respect people who disagree with you. As Jordan Peterson says in a debate state your opponents opinion in a way thst THEY find acceptable.
I do not own guns but the people I know who own guns do so for two reasons. They have a fear of their home being attacked and not being able to protect their family until the police arrive. Perhaps they would say they feel a responsibility to protect ther families.
More rare but I've met them are people who themselves just like the Afghanistans who fought off the Russians.

I'd say nothing until you reduce the "legal" amount. The illegal ones don't appear out of thin air. They come from what was once a legal stash. This would be a long term effort. This is one area where I depart from conservatives. Looking at other countries, gun control clearly works if you have the will. This'll have to be handled (and probably will) by future generations. No current appetite from Gen X, even when it seems we average one or more of these incidents a week.
