Ok..I was at the UK game too..but went to the Utah, E Washington and Missouri games..so 3 wins cancel out any bad luck I gave the team for UK..lol

I’ve also been in The Swamp for some epic wins. The wins there far outnumber the losses. Well…..if you don’t count the 6 football seasons under Dickey when I was a student at UF.

He should have been instructed to not touch that ball under any circumstances

Almost sounds like there's an issue with coaching.

Almost….. then again, the kid should have learned Football Common Sense 101 in high school ball. I mean, there’s no explaining leaping up for a punt that’s over your head and a certain touchback. You almost can’t conceive of a more boneheaded mistake than that. Napier owns his share of this loss, but that play isn’t part of it. And if any one event cost us the game that one is easy to point to. Certainly more than anything AR did or didn’t do

It was weird in all those ways - I think in my decades of watching Gator football I may have seen a game or two like this but this one definitely seemed cursed. The more I think about it, the more troubled I am with AR who added another layer of weirdness with his seeming reluctance to run the ball. It seems like he is going to leave - I think he's a good kid but that crap with having his own coach outside the program and just his behavior in this and other games makes me think he is focused primarily on getting to the next level. I hope I'm wrong and maybe QBs typically have outside coaches but it doesn't seem like something Napier (a control freak) would normally allow. The more I think about that drive after halftime where he ran it and the offense cruised down the field and then they/he stopped running it - it kind of bothers me.

This about sums up my view of the game as well. I can't ever recall seeing a game like this. It was so weird to me. We definitely had more mistakes than normal, but the number wasn't ridiculous. It's just that EVERY single mistake we made seemed to have severe consequences due to timing. Every time we would finally break a run, we got a hold or a procedure penalty. Every third and long they converted... I could go on and on. I swear, we made 15 mistakes in that game but if we would have only made 12, we would have won by 3 TD's. That's honestly the way I feel about it. The icing on the cake for me was the final touchdown. Seriously... a dropped pass that is right in the hands of the receiver. But then next play, same receiver, just about the same play and boom! We get a touchdown. If that happened during any other of the 55 minutes of that game, we would have laughed it off. But seeing how it was at the end of the game, the 6 or so seconds it took off the clock which was crucial for the game winning drive. Cursed is definitely a good word to describe that game.

As far as the OP is concerned: NO game is meaningless. Ever. If you're a true fan you want to win every game. Losses hurt, especially to Vandy.

If you're looking at it through the context of program building or winning championships, then perhaps you could say it's meaningless. Losing this game isn't going to set our program back or make us any more or less of a contender over the next few years. We already were bowl eligible, and we weren't going to win any kind of championship this year. The only thing this loss did is now we are going to go to a really crappy bowl game instead of just a crappy bowl game...

They had lost 26 SEC games in a row. They are worse than the typical Vandy.
Beating UK was a joke, they aren’t very good either.

Agree and if you’re standing on or inside the 10 you always let it go by you.
That’s FB 101, even if you have never fielded a punt in your life.

Agree and none of those crucial penalties really had anything to do with the play. It was always something stupid or borderline that had nothing to do with the play that gets erased.

I gather you don't remember when Vandy finished 2-10 many years. From 2019-2021, they went 5-28. From 1995-2004, they went 25-87 (.223) with 7 SEC wins against teams mostly as bad or worse than they were. They won five games this year alone. And since when did having a losing streak against SEC teams mean anything?

Good enough to beat us the last two years. What does that make us?

You two go put your noses in the corner and don’t come out until we have 10 wins.

Makes us an average team. Look at their record, who have they beat that’s a great team?

Coaching lost the Uk game and the Vandy game.

We have one good win this year.

That’s the worst part of it. Undisciplined players, really really stupid.

There's 4 months of college football so NO games are meaningless unless the players don't care. I'm tired of fans comparing our progress to GA's. Apple meet orange.
