Yep, I agree with all of those. And here's an important part of the point. The great ones had certain benefits.

Shane - Spurrier took the ncaa by storm and that 90 team had a GREAT defense.
Danny - Played quite a bit as a freshman. This is a strong qualifier. But also Spurrier genius.
Johnson - Soph year strong gator team (Fred Taylor, et al) not a strong QB performance
Driskel - 2012 Good example, but that team won by defense
Grier - Freshman, def qualifies, yet on a four-loss team
Franks - Mullen the elixir and lotta STUDS on that defense

This goes back 32 years and I agree that all six QBs here played on good teams; not all had great seasons at QB (see DJ '97). Probably every one of these teams had better defenses than the '22 Gators.

Every one of these players had elite talent and they had varying degrees of success at UF. Perhaps I'm unique, but I've really enjoyed watching AR play this year. He's such a dynamic play maker and has rep'd the university quite admirably. This kind of "speech 2" suggestion is an unnecessary juxtaposition.

So you think AR would have excelled in Spurrier's system? Really?

See Kyle Trask. Did not start in HS and barely played his first years at FL. Came off of the bench his Junior year and lit it up from then on. Tired of this lack of experience BS with AR. I love the guy but am perplexed as to why he takes “times out” from running the ball. He had ample opportunities vs a WEAK Vandy team. Running is his strength, period.

And this is exactly why the record is fitty fitty. No fire. A great QB needs to have that internal fire. AR doesn't have it.

Logic = no, I did not suggest that. I'll tell you what, though. Give me AR, a young Spurrier ripe in his age + a kick a$$ defense and you can have AR, a young Billy Napier ripe in his age and the 2022 Gator defense. Who wins?

He did. Many of the running plays he had the option to pull it and run himself. He chose not to.

I dunno. I’d love to hold a clipboard for 4-5 years, get a pension, and go home a failure.

I think more often than not, if a player hasn’t made big strides by year three, things won’t change much in year four. There are outliers on both sides I guess.

Maybe add urban Meyer to the list. He got angry on occasion but he tried to keep it cool.

All who criticize our team need to realize that some players will leave Florida due to inane remarks from people who are supposed to be fans. What the hell is wrong with you people
