Mid Major Mike vs Sunbelt Billy. Let’s keep it above the belt fellas. Seriously though, FSU is a bit overrated and we are a bit underrated. I ain’t betting on this game since this team is wildly inconsistent.
If AR chooses to not run, play pocket passer again, verses fsu, I will make the assumption that he is showing/practicing his passing more for nfl aspirations than helping uf win. And if he is allowed to do this I will make another assumption and that is BN knows this too.
173-39 ..and their next opponent just lost to Vanderbilt. Hope the clowns are overconfident and full of themselves. They desperately want to gut the gatas though and run around the field hoisting a gator head.
I don't get all the criticism of AR. He threw for 400 yds and his only int was a bobbled ball/flukey play. He didn't commit the numerous penalties that kept Vandy drives going. He didn't fumble the punt into the EZ to give Vandy a TD. He's a sophomore in his first year of running the team. The lack of running is on the coach as much as it is on AR. Let's get a good performance from the O and the D and go get a win in clowntown.
There is no rational, data-driven way to convince me that the the Gators will beat FSU. On the other hand, there is no rational, data-driven way to explain how Vanderbilt beat Florida, South Carolina beat Tennessee, etc. The Gators just need to defy logic and beat FSU somehow. Richardson needs to make the FSU defense feel his 240 pounds by actually running. If he throws as many times as he did against Vandy, he is going to toss a couple interceptions. Even if Florida is playing its 5th-string receivers, those guys need to find a way to get open. Their transfer portal choices will depend on making catches.
Thanks ET, very interesting. As almost always now, another mention of run AR. This in the response’s, less than a 25% chance of winning. smh
Based on a couple of posts the key to the game is AR transforming into Tim Tebow. Since that seems unlikely, how about we take what the defense gives us even if it doesn't fit the "system." I'll take the Chris Leak running if he also has Chris Leak's passing.
You have to know fsu will do what many teams have done and that is take away our strength, the run. Most DC's know make AR a passer. For us to win, our OL has to open holes, AR has to keep the ball sometimes but even more, he is going to have to find seams to run when he's dropping back to pass. He is going to have to extend plays with his feet period. All this means AR has to come with the mindset of a lion. Furthermore, BN needs to be a bit more creative than he has been. To lose back to back games especially to vandy, and our biggest rival will put a huge damper on the season as the team is sent packing to Birmingham for the weedwacker bowl. This game IS highly important otherwise we're not much better than the 6-6 season of last year.
Thank you and according to PFF he was the fifth best quarterback in college football last week and that’s with his receivers dropping 5 to 6 easy ones.
In the red zone Billy is beyond predictable. Run Run Pass. Not even putting AR in advantageous position on third because entire world knows what he’s doing- passing and worse yet we go play action, which does nothing but give Defensive ends the opportunity to pressure AR even sooner. Play action is not respected by good teams because we cannot run against good teams. PA does not freeze linebackers it works against us. If the world knows we are throwing go shotgun w back with AR and use him as safety valve. And don’t always run on first down in red zone. And while we are at it get more creative. We are beyond predictable. Two dudes that break film down that everyone knows said surprised by how many plays Vandy knew/played. Well sure they did. Watch our film we never break tendencies. Gotta change some things up offensively and pray our defense gets a couple stops and breaks.
If we rush for 200 I’ll be shocked. AR will have to give us 65-75. We go for 200 and I say 60-70% we win.
Several teams this year have commented post game about how they knew exactly what some of the plays were going to be from watching the film. Predictable is not good, even more so in the red-zone. “Through 11 games, the Gators rank last in the SEC and 119th nationally in red-zone conversions, scoring just 75 percent of the time.”
