This is an utterly absurd stance. Leaking an opinion to the media where the entire public gets to see it is less corrupt than only telling some activists, whose politics you agree with, in private what the decision will be.

If Alito leaked Dobbs to the media, that's a lesser offense than leaking Hobby Lobby at a private dinner with political bedfellows. If you don't understand why, I recommend looking up why judges are generally not supposed to engage in ex parte communications.

You stated your opinion, and you justified it by saying, “I’m right, Google it.”

I’m not saying the allegations if true make Alito’s actions okay, I’m just saying one action is worse than the other.

Which is worse: leaking a company's acquisition plan to the media so that everybody becomes aware of it or leaking it only to your friends so they can exploit it for their own gain?

    False Equivalency.

A dissenting justice leaking a coming controversial opinion to the media foreseeably leads to people attempting the pressure, intimidate, and/or harass the justices in the majority. This case also implies more malicious intent than the other, which could just be a judge making small talk with his buddies. Doesn’t make it okay, but it makes it different.

This is a more direct and extreme outcome than somebody potentially using insider information to financially exploit information from the hobby lobby case.

Not at all a false equivalency. Leaking things privately to a small group of people who can use that insider knowledge to personally benefit is much worse than leaking something to the entire public. As I said before, if Alito leaked both decisions, what he did in Hobby Lobby is far worse than Dobbs. It's genuinely corrupt.

Potentially putting your buddies in a position where they could make some money (illegally) is nowhere near as bad as leaking an opinion to the public specifically to apply pressure on the justices who disagree with you.

They have life tenure. If anything, leaking the opinion only ensured that the votes remained where they were (which is why many people speculated that Thomas or Alito did it to keep Kavanaugh from joining with Roberts). Making something public is less corrupt than only tipping off your political allies.

Not that we didn’t know, but it shows that our highest court is beholden to/ in-bed with special interests.

    It needs to be reworked.

Yeah the leak from the left theory never really made much sense. It’s always been obvious that putting out a draft would both calcify the opinion and blunt its political negative impact (further from the election and gave Republicans an issue to talk about instead of the awful substance of what they did/were planning to do).

These new revelations aren’t surprising at all in that context. He was the most likely suspect for the Dobbs leak, and now, surprise surprise, it looks like he’s leaked other things as well.

Which is the worse offense is up for debate, but the private, ex parte nature of the hobby lobby story destroys even the pretense of independent decision making. Even though he’s obviously a political actor just based on his decisions, the idea that he’s doing this sort of thing in direct coordination with activists just takes the corruption to an entirely other level.

Maga is a Trump thing and had no history prior.

And the idea that all MAGA folks hate gays and want to be racist is just more of the generalistic nonsense that you are becoming known for.

I hate the MAGA cultish lean, but many of them are just taking sides without seeing clearly or thinking deeper. Just like many in the left do btw with some of the extreme nonsense over there.

Your type of view is part of the problem and you cant see it.

For you a totally blue, Godless society os what works, sorry of most of us think the Chinese approach is a bad one.

Just stop lobbing stones from your blue tented glass house.

Maga is just the TeaParty with a leader, as envisioned by Rush. And better marketing

I said ALL Phil. Of course there are some that racism plays a role. Its one of the reasons I say i hate the Maga cult.

I just remind people that cults often fool followers. Most followers dont see the danger or prescribe to the evils that the leader espouses.

The TeaParty and Maga are completely different phenomenons. TeaParty had some core principles and beliefs. A real agenda. (I didnt agree with all of ot, but it did that at least.)

Maga is basically the hero worship of a person who offers no real ideals.

Totally different things and the combining of the two is just politics as usual.

For a purportedly independent judiciary, both are equally reprehensible, before we look to whether there was an outright crime.

Your pretty regular attempts to say, "Aww not every person in this terrible group is terrible." It's nauseating.
