for Broward county school super to dare to require masks in schools. First, he had a GJ empaneled to investigate them and then removed 4 dem members of the school board elected in Broward county under the guise of negligence from the MSD school shootings and put pub lackeys on the board in a dem county. Then yesterday, one week before their term ends, they did their duty and fired the school superintendent that required masks during the peak of the covid outbreak.

This is who he is, petty and punitive and willing to use his powers to punish those that do not bend the knee. Just like his mentor DT....

And yes, I recognize that the GJ found problems but we all know that a GJ can be led to indict just about anyone since the accused has little to no representation

First he took funding from them which the feds then replaced.

DeSantis Appointees Replace Elected Broward School Board Members – NBC 6 South Florida (nbcmiami.com)

Four school board members appointed by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis in one of Florida’s most Democratic counties were sworn into office on Tuesday. They replace the elected Broward County board members DeSantis suspended after a grand jury investigating the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School found widespread wrongdoing.

The state's Department of Education on Monday voiced “significant concerns" about the school system's actions before, during and after the shootings of 17 people by Nikolas Cruz, a troubled former student who attacked the high school's campus on Valentine's Day in 2018.

In a letter sent to Superintendent Vickie Cartwright, the state cited the grand jury's finding of mismanagement of the $800 million voter-approved bond to renovate schools, the underreporting of criminal activity to the state, the district's “almost fanatical desire to control student data” and use it to manipulate public perception, and the practice of allowing students with serious felonies back on school campuses.
“Due to the gravity of the issues outlined above, the Florida Department of Education and the Office of Safe Schools will contact you to arrange an in-person meeting this week to investigate these major concerns,” wrote Tim Hay, who directs the state's Office of Safe Schools.
    ........................................
“What Governor DeSantis did is un-American and undemocratic. He doesn’t care about democracy and overturned the will of the voters,” Levinson said in a statement. She said DeSantis wants to remove anyone who supported former Superintendent Robert Runcie and blame the shooting on them. Runcie resigned after he was indicted for allegedly lying to the grand jury. He has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial.

and yesterday they dropped the axe...

The video ends with the motion passed on a 5-4 vote to fire Superintendent Cartwright at 10 p.m. Monday. The five members appointed to the board by Gov. Ron DeSantis ousted her — four of whom will leave their posts in a week.

Board member Daniel Foganholi, appointed by DeSantis in April, proposed the motion to terminate Cartwright after the board heard audit reports critical of the school district.

Read the story earlier. Midnight firing just before the appointee terms ended. Followed orders to a tee I'm guessing. deSantis got what he wanted, trying to restructure the most liberal county in the state.
I no longer live in Broward, so don't know the new boards make up, but it would be funny if they rehired the superintendent.

    1. Remove the majority of the school board a liberal county elected on a BS pretext.
    2. Install your cronies.
    3. Have your cronies fire the superintendent you dislike right before they're booted off the board by the voters.

    Nice to be king.

From barking at those HS kids to this, vindictiveness & anger is one of my biggest concerns for RD as potus. He does this ‘look at me at how tough I am and how I attack’. Doing this in A state is bad enough, having the most powerful military under DS command could be much much worse.

Dont forget about the SA he removed for refusing to prosecute abortion cases, the Disney suit because they dared to support their LGBT employees, the map boundaries he drew to favor the pubs when the legislative branch maps weren't favorable enough, etc. And with no threat of impeachment being successful and a highly partisan Supreme Court he would have no limits on ways to abuse the power of POTUS to punish any perceived enemies. People need to wake up and see him for what he is. Add in his lifelong proclamation that it is his destiny to be POTUS and it is truly frightening.

Hopefully, he and Trump will destroy each other, and somebody not awful will end up as the nominee. Our country deserves better than that whiny, little man.

The national media is incompetent and have been for years. They're a big part of why we got Trump. They care only about the show.

In true DeSantis fashion, his Broward School Board burns down the house | Editorial (msn.com)

Broward County Public Schools has been plagued by the mishandling of school security in the lead-up to the Parkland shooting in 2018. Its previous schools superintendent was arrested for perjury last year. The district has been accused of wasting tax dollars. A statewide grand jury report reached the conclusion some of its School Board members shouldn’t remain in office.

That dumpster fire turned into an all-out wildfire after five School Board members appointed by the governor fired Superintendent Vickie Cartwright. These unelected officials make up the majority of the board and voted to oust her in a late-night meeting Monday. There was no notice to the public that her firing even was going to be discussed.

Most of DeSantis’ appointees took office after he suspended four school board members this year following the grand jury’s recommendations. They will be gone in a matter of days (only one of them will stay on for another two years). Next Tuesday, four new board members elected by voters will be sworn in, the Herald reported.

Across the state, including in Miami-Dade, DeSantis-backed candidates won several school board seats. Those who assume it will be business as usual don’t understand what DeSantis’ endgame is. What happened in Broward is a taste of the scorched-earth politics that will follow. Be prepared for school boards to launch culture wars on things like LGBTQ books and sex education. Superintendents, who serve at the pleasure of elected members, will have to walk the line.

While his instate results have been appropriately branded a sign of political strength, his campaigning in other states with more sober electorates was not. Thread

Florida is out of touch with most of the rest of the country. It is a haven for the fringe right.

All 4 of DeS appointees up for election lost and new chairperson elected. First agenda item is to determine to rehire former superintendent. How will DeS react if they do?

And surprise, the vote to terminate her was illegal because it wa snot properly noticed so by law (if that matters) the item has ot be properly noticed and brought up for a vote again.

Whoever their counsel is should be brought up before the Bar for failing to advise the board that what they were doing (voting on a non noticed item) was illegal and they should not proceed.

DeSantis appointee ousted as Broward School Board chair; Parkland parent replaces him (msn.com)

After the Nov. 8 election, the only one of the five who remains on the board is Alston, whose District 2 seat is not up for election until 2024.
    ............................................................
Alhadeff noted that the board’s meeting to fire Cartwright — which happened around 10 p.m. last Monday — was “rushed” and believed the firing wasn’t in accordance the state’s sunshine law.

The law mandates that the school board, as a governmental body, posts on its agenda items it intends to discuss at its board meeting. In the case of Cartwright’s termination, the board had posted an item related to the audit, not an item related to Cartwright’s possible firing.

Courts have ruled that items not properly noticed by a governmental body have to be thrown out and redone.

See….it’s already starting with DeSantis. Like Reagan, like Bush, like Trump, he’s the new “Satan”. Why? Because excellent chance he’s our next president.

DeS is very much like DT in the sense that he abuses the power of the office to punish his enemies, real or perceived, whether what he is doing is legal or not. I've said that long before talk of him running for POTUS began.

Neither Reagan or Bush or other pubs have acted this way.

I’d say DeSantis just got a stellar mandate on his Covid policies. So I have no issue with him firing the Broward super. DeSantis spectacular win was due to his Covid policies.

Bush and Trump in particular were two of the most disastrous Presidents in modern times, arguably the W cluster*** and WMD lie caused the right to lose their damned minds (although the right had a tendency to mistrust government, in a perverse sort of W proved them right). What is missed on these people, and perhaps yourself, is that they still give these clowns their full throated support regardless of total incompetence and/or malfeasance while they are “running” government.

I mean I don’t think we should need to point out that Obama and “Let’s Go Brandon” have been the new satans for right wing media, along with other villains like Pelosi, the squad, etc. Seems to me none of these people are nearly as vile as the likes of MTG, Gym Jordan, Gaetz, Trump, and a few others. The level of vitriol is not proportional in any way.

You don’t have to tell me. I already knew the next GOP leader would be made out as the new “Satan”. Liz Cheney is a darling of libs now, but I remember when libs proclaimed her father was responsible for thousands of American soldiers lives.
