It could be that AR's camp has come to terms that he is just going to be a Super Athletic, Combine-Stud. He's not going to be a Mahomes who will have a long and illustrious NFL career So this draft is their best chance to cash in from that Hype Machine. If he does end up being successful in the NFL, it's a surprise bonus. But I think in their minds, they (including AR himself) can not blow this chance to make as much $ as they can by losing AR to injury, questionable performance, etc.
What an interesting insight. It makes sense. But that means they are counting on an NFL GM to be downright idiotic and brain dead. That they are going to put one over on an NFL team/ owner and con them out of first round money (MILLIONS) based on a workout. As I type that it doesn't sound like that much of a reach, so never mind. Probably a good strategy then...
Remember the days when college football players didn’t have a “camp” or set of advisors…….man, I miss those days.
There was a WR a few years ago that sub-4.2 40-yarded his way into the 1st round. Got drafted by the Raiders but don’t remember him doing much, even as a kick returner
This is the most rational explanation of why and how AR is going to the NFL. It would be the correct decision for him and his family. I don't think he will ever be a real NFL QB, and I am not sure he believes he will either. But, if informed people are willing to pay him an incredible amount of money to take that risk. You have take the money.
I am happy for him and will continue to wish him well in the NFL, who knows, he may surprise some people. The circumstances for this year sucked and I wish we had him starting for a full complete year without the draft hanging over our heads
Who is objectively worse than AR. But he’d be a good get and a solid QB. We’d have to make major strides elsewhere though
I've not seen this guy play. Obviously don't expect him to be athletically comparable but is he at least better from a passing accuracy standpoint?
Why are some people so certain AR is leaving? Has he said anything to make you believe he's leaving? If so it just reinforces my hatred for the no-fun-league which continues to undermine the very source of its reason for existence...college football!!!!
Anthony Richardson is 100% gone after Friday. He will not play in the bowl game. This comes from the man himself.
While his performance as a QB has been pedestrian, i think those selling him as a combine freak who can’t play QB are selling him far short as well. Guy can make all the throws, has an elite NFL arm, and isn’t terribly inaccurate. Just needs to tighten a few things up. It might have been a disappointing season, but trying to pretend he can’t play just comes off as petty and bitter IMO. That being said, if he’s been “protecting himself” injury wise that is unfortunate. Not sure if that’s the case, but it would explain some things. I thought since last year he could be Heisman contender and #1 pick in a Mullen style offense and after the Utah game I still thought that. Games 2 and 3 this year quickly slapped those ideas down. But he’s been solid enough since those two disaster games. Unfortunately just like Tebow’s year 2, we needed a Tebow- Heisman like season just to be 8-4. AR fell short of that, maybe because he doesn’t care about next year and doesn’t care about losing to Vandy either and thus “held back” the running aspect of his game. Welcome to the new college football.
Sorry if this question is a little off topic from the OP, but isn't Jaden Rashada about 185 lbs.? How much would a kid like that be expected to bulk up as a freshman?
