Groundwork for helping DeSantis presidential run. Run stories about "Wokeness run amuck" at UF, then wait for the esteemed governor and his personal bi-otch President Sasse to take steps to combat it. Then run those stories nightly about how DeSantis "fixed Florida" and how he will extend that to the entire nation.
I said adherence was one of the reasons...And yeah many people are willing, it just isn't as simple as we want to think it is.
I kinda do. I have my degree in exercise sports science. I do agree personally responsibility for one's own health is important.
Like patriots for freedom. Take words which sound good and attach them to your group. Creating this type of environment (rules and legislation) is the worst thing DeSantis has done.
It absolutely is not simple. When you have massive corporations that make big money selling foods that are terrible for you. If only people understood inflammation…
Is there an institution that conservatives don’t hate? Much to do about nothing. Fox is good at stirring up controversy. We have great medical institutions. Obesity isn’t a medical issue. It’s an education issue. Should be a much bigger part of the educational curriculum. If Covid were killing as many people as obesity there’d be more government too is on it.
Seems like a little of people think there are cultural and material issues when it comes to personal health ... which would seem to support the idea that medical professionals being trained in some kind of critical theory is very warranted!
I think we are pretty much in agreement. I hope I didn't come off like I was attacking your opinion -- because nutrition/lifestyle and personal responsibility are important -- I just wanted to emphasize the importance of understanding of how these other things we wouldn't normally assume play a major factor in someones health, do.
UF's medical school was ranked 43rd in 2015, 41st in 2018, and 37th today. Looks like whatever they are doing is working. Keep up the good work and Go Gators!
If they teach them than why do most doctors not use them? I have been blessed with good health, and we follow some pretty strict nutritional paths and work hard to stay fit... but on the rare occasion that i have the need for a doctor, it is drugs, drugs, drugs. I tore an abdominal muscle last year and had two hernia surgeries as a result of the injury. At no point was exercise or nutrition ever mentioned. I found out that there were things that could have been done to prevent the second surgery. My surgeon pretty much cut, fixed, gave me narcos and said you're all set. My type of injury actually has very specific PT and nutritional aids that can help. Not a single word ever from my doctors. (2 different surgeons). I was told by a fairly young doctor recently that "I'm not a nutritionist. I Treat the issue in a more mechanical way." The lack of fitness and nutrition mixed with medical science is a long standing problem. A problem that is just now being addressed in school, and then probably nowhere near enough. My recent experience was akin to having your engine repaired, but the doctor not telling you to keep a better eye on your oil level. "I fixed your engine didn't I?"
I dunno. My doctor is constantly nagging me about exercise and nutrition. I don't listen to her, but that's not her fault.
Actually no it isn’t. There is a reason family history is asked about; there is a reason knowing lineage is important. African American kidney numbers are different than caucasian max target. There are certain diseases that one culture experiences dramatically more than another. Anyone who doesn’t realize the impact certain negative experiences has on Physical and mental health isn’t well versed on the latest studies of multigenerational PTSD. Read the studies on the decendants of the Hollocaust and a not even related event; Andersonville. My shirtless; suncreenless childhood in Florida is especially concerning as I age due to Scottish heritage. When my health fanatic sister was 21; she had melanoma; two common traits the two places with some of the most melanoma have; it’s not the sun; Australia and Scotland. I have Dupuytren‘s, it’s mostly seen in NE European cultures; my Father and I have it. We are 94% NE European. So no; your statement is beyond false in its simplification of the data points important in health care. Wouldn’t it be great if exercise and good food cured all our ills; dna programmed issues; environmental and those driven by poor mental health.
