I still say he’s a gifted athlete, but a meh QB. Wish him the best if he goes but I doubt to ever see him on Sundays. At this point let Napier bring up or in his guy and for him to play in Napiers offense and grow from there. It possible AR is not Napiers fit, but best option.
If he was saying don’t be short, he’s not very smart. Short gives you a chance, throwing into the stands gives you zero chance.
Well said, thank you. Those that constantly rip AR truly have no idea that we can do big things or at least have the chance with him at QB. Without him different story.
Of course we could do worse, Richardson has been somewhat confounding this year. Despite his talent, he actually had a couple of “can’t possibly get any worse than this” games. He’s recovered to have a solid, but largely unspectacular season marred by missed opportunities. I do think with a year under his belt he’d probably be far more consistent and productive next year based on his progress this year. Maybe even a Heisman contender if we could get back to 10+ wins. With a new QB situation it can go either way. If he’s projected high he’s probably gone. NIL money + insurance might help somewhat, but I doubt it comes anywhere near offsetting a 1st round projection. While he most likely could “use” the extra season, at the end of the day if he’s projected 1st round - based on raw skills being enough - ultimately there is only one choice.
Let's not forget there is the portal. If AR leaves and the staff is not comfortable with what we have, then find someone servicable there. I just read where we cut ties to one of our QB recruits, so we only have one QB in the class. That leaves room for a portal kid, if there will be any worth it.
Not so true. Many wondered about Trask’s ability. Two coaches couldn’t seem to get away from Franks, hell even the NFL drafted him as a QB
Slightly better D would have won those games also. A slightly better offensive game plan vs UK and Vandy would have won those games also. You know like some semblance of a run game….
If the basic premise is that message board bozos always say stupid things like "whoever's on the bench can't be worse" then yeah I agree they're stupid and you need to have someone better in order to replace a player. In this case it doesn't really matter because he's gonna do what he's gonna do. If he does go I think we'll be okay since despite having tons of physical talent that talent hasn't produced all that much on the field.
CMP ATT CMP% YDS AVG TD INT LNG RTG QB1:224 346 64.7 2,734 7.9 19 13 61 141.7 AR: 167 300 55.7 2,351 7.8 14 8 78 131.6 Want to take a guess who QB1 is? IMO, AR is probably 4 yrs or so away from being able to consistently perform on the field. Throwing to the wrong guy/misreads will happen with new qbs, but he currently struggles to put the ball where he wants to much less how. He’s actually decent at knowing the progression but gets stuck watching his first read too long. I think it’ll take longer to fix the accuracy than improve progression time. Throwing comes pretty natural to most the elite qbs.
AR is the best high school QB I've ever seen starting for a high-profile major college football program. JMHO, he'd be foolish to go to the NFL, a career ended before it ever gets to take off. Me as HC? I don't care about his potential so long as he isn't willing to run my offense. The best motivator is the bench. I think the coach our field is named for said something to that effect.
