Norvell is 16-16 at fsu. He has never had more wins than losses in his time there. Let's keep it that way.

That last sentence just sounds like more speculation.

Reminds me of my son's HS baseball team. Starting SS was rumored to be transferring at season's end, so the coach benched him midseason, never to play again for the team. To the kid's credit he stuck around. A very talented team never got out of districts.

As long as a player is on the team and practicing, he deserves to be considered for playing time. Otherwise, why hang around.

I would call the last sentence speculation based upon specific information...if that makes sense. Trent played vs South Carolina, certainly would have played vs Vandy had he not quit.

Jack Miller hasn’t taken a snap this season, right?

You are correct this really isn’t hard, so let me help.

As another poster said coaches quit on Trent before Trent quit on them. Trent hasn’t been a good Gator, he’s been a great Gator. Represented the name with class in and out of school. You have no idea what happened behind the scenes. Ricky is better than Trent but Trent received no opportunities essentially. When Ricky stepped out for a breather Trent saw a few snaps. Trent, like some others, feels he offered some value. When Shorter was out many, including some that know a whole lot more football than you and I, thought we’d see Ricky slide outside a little and Trent in the slot.

Bowman played more snaps than Douglas so he is playing ahead of him. If implying different guys/receivers can’t play different positions I’d disagree. Pearsall can play outside and slot as an example. Billy may only play Ricky at slot but Ricky could slide outside in a heartbeat. And yes some do cross train at different positions. Take DaVonta Smith for example, the Eagles play him all over the field. I said some but I’d fully expect receivers to understand and know what other receivers are doing on each play. DaVonta is an excellent example. Good coaches get their best players on the field so saying Bowman played more than Douglas because they play different positions means nothing to me because they don’t play different positions. They are both receivers. Not like we are saying Princely played more than Avery Helm as we can’t compare them as they truly play two Different positions.

Absolutely, no one truly knows what happened behind the scenes. The story you told we can probably all think of one growing up, or watching it up close.

I guess it was too hard for you after all
Let's see if I can walk you through it.
Trent not starting is not the coaches quitting on him. Over 70% of the roster doesn't start. He was the backup and getting snaps in every game. Do you really think the staff just woke up one day and decided "let's never play Trent again"? They didn't quit on him

Some WR can flip between inside and out. There was no reason to move Ricky outside because we had two established returning starters outside and Ricky is a natural inside. X and Shorter were ahead of Trent with the previous staff and with this staff, he was the backup and a quality option. But you don't move the starter to make room for the backup.

As for Bowman/Douglas....this is nonsense. Caleb is a true freshman just getting his feet wet. The last thing you do is put him at a position he hasn't worked at whenhe is just getting going at his primary. It's unfair to him and the offense.

“He was the back up getting snaps in every game”. Not true. According to FloridaGators.com Trent only got snaps in 7 of the first 10. Games. I remembered him not getting any snaps against UGA so I checked. He didn’t play at all in 3 of the 10 games he was on the team so that is false. Big difference between snaps in every game and not seeing the field in 30% of your games.

Those two returning starters you mentioned have missed games due to injury. This is a fact. You have a talented guy in Ricky that is more talented than the backups ( that’s not up for debate). That’s why you slide Ricky outside. You’ve got a slot guy in Trent that knows the position and is more than capable. As another poster said and I’d agree coaches quit on Trent. Add up not playing and not getting opportunities at all ( injuries to starters are fact) and there is another view.

Here is the fact. Trent played in every game as the backup until whatever caused the separation occurred....when it was clear he was gone they quit playing him. After that he only played late in the USC game on senior day before formally quitting. He was the backup, and then doesn't touch the field. So you can continue to suspend belief and think that the WR coach, the OC, and the HC all just woke up one day and decided, let's never play Trent again.
Trent was already all but out the door when Shorter got hurt, and was totally out the door for losing X this week. He wasn't an option at that juncture.

Which is exactly what I said....did you not read the post you are quoting lol. He was playing as the primary backup in every game, then there was a separation and they quit playing him. He got a few garbage snaps on senior day then quit completely.

Spur Dog had very underrated defenses

Hoke was an NFL D-Coordinator, Strong has a great pedigree. Stoopsy is Stoopsy. Spur loved to see his guys eat, so we had a great deal of turnover.

Go Gators - beat the Noles!

Is that a losing attitude I detect. Believe in winning or hit the door.

AR needs to run in the first half for us to win. I think the only game where he did'nt run in the first half that we won was Eastern Washington.
