This is where these conversations become polarizing between defend vs defeat the points being discussed. To each their own.

I will add to the discussion one point while putting his team in a position tie/win in regulation, he didn’t will them to victory with exceptional heroics and emotion. Furthermore, he didnt even give them a chance how ever small on the last play of the game when he inexplicably airmailed the EZ by a LARGE amount of space and that is very troubling.

Yes, this has always been AR's case. I really don't see how much has changed from the eval you'd make before a game was played this year. Confirmed everything that was suspected before. NFL ceiling, mediocre SEC floor.

Although this article also does what a lot here do, which is cherry-pick one stat and act like it means something without context. That stretch of games where he threw no picks was cool, and it did indeed represent improvement. But not as much as that stat might suggest. Other than UT, he has hit a bad guy directly in the hands every game, including this last one (not the actual INT, but another one earlier that was dropped.) They do mention that Allen also had some jaw-dropper bonehead plays, but TBH I don't recall Allen in college at all and have never watched his film. I do know his accuracy in year 1 was horrid, so bad that there were lots of whispers that he was a bust. And somehow he did indeed get more accurate, so kudos to him. I just doubt that's even close to a realistic expectation. I can't even recall a second guy who improved accuracy that much once he was in the league.

    "Exceptional heroics and emotion."

Good lord. How about competence from any other part of the team? I don't find it polarizing at all. I find it obvious that once you rank the things that sunk the ship, you'll cover a whole lot of discreet items before you get to AR not literally being a hero.

On almost every thread about this game this AR anti-chorus acts as if A) things were prettay, prettay good except for horrid AR, or 2) Expecting a guy to be "heroic" is reasonable.

    What are we doing??

And didn't get the Hail Mary in bounds???? That's where we are. It was a HAIL MARY. Pure desperation that works so poorly that the successful ones are on loop on ESPN Classic.

I don't want to ruin AR's draft status, as we have established that secret knowledge exists here that NFL scouts don't have the ability to understand without us telling them, but I'm going to risk it: AR's big problem as a QB is not being able to throw the ball exactly where he wants it to go. What "troubles" you about that bad, desperate, nearly zero % no-matter-what throw?

But at the same time, he's not proving he's an NFL QB... proving otherwise actually. Would you take this guy in the first or second round? I would not.

OP, you are making things up. There's NOTHING that can be determined by his on-field play, except that he's not a great QB. Going to the NFL? Would that be a great loss? I think he needs to stay but the problem there is that if he's not a QB, we have to endure another year of several losses being attributed absolutely to his play.

AR was fantastic. He could have went from an A to an A+ if he ran more.

Even if he wasn’t as good as his talent says he could have been it was still far better than someone like Kitna.

Its usually easier to improve a team by taking D or C level performance to a B level rather than complaining about why an A isn’t an A+

Drafting QB’s in the league is all about perceived potential, most haven’t proven all that much yet, much of that is because they don’t stay long enough. I would not want retaining my lucrative GM gig solely hinging on drafting AR in round 1, of the next draft.

Why are we demanding Heisman level performance from one guy but dismiss mediocre play from others?

Or CBN is the OC and has historically never ran his QB much? He clearly prefers certain plays and certain sets. It seems ridiculous to question someone’s effort when we have absolutely no idea.

Absolutely everything I’ve seen and heard is AR is a fantastic Gator.

Hard to judge that since we haven't seen Kitna play any meaningful snaps. The few passes he threw were some of the ones AR would miss. Now nobody will debate AR is a much better athlete than Kitna, but not sure about QB since we have very little time watching Kitna run the 1st team.

Until you give Kitna the snaps, you have no idea what you're talking about. Look how long it took Trask to get the full time gig, and that was only after an injury forced Mullen to start him.

    Good lord Emitt,

i added 1 item about super heroic effort and emotional finish that i thought was as ridiculous as all those you posted. While also listing 1 item AR had control over the distance the ball traveled on the last play. That was one variable in his control, make a reasonable throw on an opportunity he guided the team into position to have.

That was it. Sorry it was lost in translation

I don't believe this offense fits his brain. Remains to be seen if other QBs can thrive running this scheme. We will see. I think we need an OC, at least one that has a high ceiling and designs an offense that makes sense. That said, I don't believe AR will go high in the draft regardless of projection. I also don't believe it will be a huge step back for UF if he leaves because it's not like we have taken a huge step forward with him running the offense.

Never mentioned Kitna as an option. I stated i would prefer lower passing stats and a W not a participation ribbon for the QB. This is a team game, unless you know for fact that stats figure into a NIL payout for performance for AR.

There gave been many games some of great magnitude where SBIV has had 200+ passing and enough scramble yardage to deliver a win. (GOD i cant believe i just typed that sentence) That kind of effort is balanced offense and conducive to long term success. That is all

I don’t see Fields ever being a top 10 quarterback in the NFL. When his legs go he’s going to be in real trouble

He was far from fantastic. He made bad reads on plays he is supposed to "read." Had a few very bad throws including a sure TD he sailed 10 yds over the targets head. He threw an INT. He also made some very good throws and was plagued by drops from his receivers. Was it his worst game? Not by any stretch of imagination, but it was far from his best as well. When the rest of the team hacked up a collective hairball and needed him to carry them, he did not.

Especially when it’s 37 degrees. Those tackles sting a little different

Why do you believe that the fans think the rest of the team played great except for AR? I can't say I've seen a single post praising any other part of the teams play Saturday and that includes the coaching. The team stunk it up and lost to an awful, less talented team and that is on all the players who didn't execute and, like it or not, that includes AR.
