I don't know the answer to that. I know softball gets 11.something scholarships. Many of these ladies are on Bright Futures or other academic scholarships. When researching this, I found that all of these ladies are SEC Scholar Athletes. So many times it costs the program no scholarship money, and that is the way we could take Meisimore, and Wellen last year. They have to do some balancing acts but having true student-athletes really helps the bottom line. I met her and her mother on her recruiting visit. She had some large fake nails. I asked her about that and she said it helped her grip the ball and get more spin. I saw her the next year at a baseball game with Kelly Barnhill. She did not have the nails and I asked her about them. She said they were high maintenance. like me. I don't know if that was the difference in her pitching or not. But, it is interesting to contemplate.
Interesting info. Odalys Cordova never played in a game at UF. Redshirted and then transferred to the College of Central Florida in Ocala, then to South Alabama where she currently plays. Here's her bio: Odalys Cordova - Softball - University of South Alabama Athletics
Why does Florida wait so long to post their entire softball schedule. Many of the other SEC already have.
I have been wondering that myself The don't have the dates and times for the Volleyball Tournament. I know that is OT, but another examples of something wrong at floridagators.com
volleyball has no sec tournament for years now, the ncaa dates are on their website.uf cannot post where and when until announced.
Agree on when and where. But floridagators.com does not have the dates which are known. We got them off the Wisconsin volleyball site.
Cool -- I thought there were three volleyball days, of which each team played two, depending on their seeding. I guess I was wrong on that. Do you have the VB dates/times? Surely, we should host the first round. As for SB, could the schedule be figured out the same way? Backtrack from when other schools say they are playing us.
Thanks, but do we know our date and time? NCAA has Thursday though Saturday listed but I thought we only played two of those dates.
UF Volleyball finishes their regular season Friday & Saturday at Ole Miss. The NCAA tournament selection show is Sunday at 7:30 pm. The Gators should be a Top 16 seed, meaning they will host 1st & 2nd round games on December 1-2 or 2-3, as the committee staggers the rounds. Regionals are 12/8 & 12/10 and since they will not be a Top 8 seed, UF will have to travel if they get that far. The Final 4 is in Omaha this year, with the semis 12/15 and the national title game 12/17 on ESPN2.
Gators going back to Mary Nutter Classic this February. They play Cal St Fullerton , UCLA, Oregon and UC Riverside. Looks like we will learn a lot about this team early in the season.
One the one hand, bummer that the early tournament is not local like it was during Covid. But more importantly, great that we will get some early stiff competition.
We play in the USF Tournament from February 10-12. Then a tournament at home from February 17-19. The team departs for Palm Springs on February 21, and Plays in the Mary Nutter Tournament on February 23-25. For some reason, floridagators.com only has the SEC schedule listed.
