Did he really say that? Interesting, but not surprising.

That's total nonsense. That's like saying we fought the Civil War because of "states' rights." Yes, we fought the Civil War because the Southern states thought they had the right to maintain the system of slavery. You're leaving out the most important part of the context.

Trump didn't try to cancel Kapernick because he was Black. He did it because he disrespected the flag. You can call Trump a lot of things but never non patriotic. Trump wanted to cancel anyone that knelled during the National Anthem, White or Black. If you want to bring in examples at least stay on topic.

And happily supporting cancel culture when it applied to an NFL QB and then crying about cancel culture when it affects a college QB is the work of a flaming hypocrite. It hurts to acknowledge certain truths about yourself, doesn't it?

example DeSantis was teaching his class that the civil war wasn't fought over slavery and is now trying to amend the curriculum in schools to not even discuss that race may be a factor in privilege

In any profession in life, if you are white and you make your reputation known as a complainer, if you are in the bottom third, YOU WILL NOT BE HIRED. Doesn’t matter the color of your skin. No company is going to take on the headache of managing a disgruntled employee who is bottom third production. And we are talking about real work here, not playing a game (football). Get over it. He was the squeaky wheel with bottom third talent. In every other career path, his fate would have been the same. As soon as an employer learns you have a bad attitude or that you are going to try to boss THEM around, you are put on a list. Regular people deal with this daily, all races deal with this. If your talent doesn’t outweigh your liability to the company, you’re not getting hired. All of us who’ve worked for any length of time know this.

Cannot speak for him but I didn't think it was OK to cancel Stokes. By the way I suspect that almost everyone over the age of 40 is very thankful that social media wasn't around when we were teens. While Kaepernick has been training on his own I don't recall a single team that has actually invited him to training camp.
As far as I could tell none of the teams mentioned in the article below invited Kaepernick to training camp.
These NFL teams should invite Colin Kaepernick to training camp

Infamous racist Thurgood Marshall on why what you're advocating for is both personally convenient for you and wrong:
"Obviously, I too believe in a colorblind society; but it has been and remains an aspiration. It is a goal toward which our society has progressed uncertainly, bearing as it does the enormous burden of incalculable injuries inflicted by race prejudice and other bigotry, which the law once sanctioned, and even encouraged. Not having attained our goal, we must face the simple fact that there are groups in every community, which are daily paying the cost of the history of American injustice. The argument against affirmative action is but an argument in favor of leaving that cost to lie where it falls. Our fundamental sense of fairness, particularly as it is embodied in the guarantee of equal protection under the law, requires us to make an effort to see that those costs are shared equitably while we continue to work for the eradication of the consequences of discrimination. Otherwise, we must admit to ourselves that so long as the lingering effects of inequality are with us, the burden will be borne by those who are least able to pay."

You want a world where we look forwards, not backwards? Start by dedicating yourself to eradicating racism and discrimination, rather than trying to sweep it under the rug and demanding that those harmed by it just get over it. You do that, and we can work together on striving for that forward-looking world.

I never supported “cancel culture” with regard to Kaepernick. Show me where I did. Kaepernick got cancelled because he sucked and made himself known as a squeaky wheel. Mainly because he sucked.

The point is the same contingent who cheered when Trump wanted to cancel those football players are now crying when this football player is getting canceled. You don't get to pick and choose when canceling football players is okay, that makes you a hypocrite.

You don't think Trump's NFL owner buddies like Jerry Jones and Robert Kraft would be inclined to listen to their friend/president when he publicly warns them to stay away from a certain player? I think they would definitely listen to him, folks mustve forgotten the sway Trump held on the nation in 2016 and 2017 while all of this was happening, no one wanted to do anything to piss him off.

Ok and Stokes got "canceled" because he was expendable aka he was never going to play at UF aka he sucked and he probably had other locker room issues, but mainly because he sucked. Glad we're on the same page here.
