Art can be very ugly too. It can be a tool for oppression. The word should not be spoken.

Not sure if that is sarcasm or not. Have you heard much of what is blasted in the stadium before games? Gotta figure that is because it is exactly what many of our players prefer to hear blasted about. The stadium songs might be a little less explicit, but lots of the artists are not on plenty of their cuts.

Let’s call it what it is. UF didn’t want to deal with the social justice warrior outrage.

I have a lot white guys doing covers of rap songs in my iTunes and include some n-bombs. Like Ben Folds doing B**** ain’t S***, and it doesn’t really bother me, since the words were written by a black person and covering, or signing along, seems more like a tribute to the author and don’t represent a word choice or thoughts of the person singing…

Still… It was a bad choice to post it publicly… it served no purpose…. Social media is such a scourge…

This could only be said by a white person who has no real Black friends.

Depends on the question. On this question, you may get different answers from the white people, but if you asked the same educational cohort, you'd get at least 8 same answers. Ask Black people and you'll get 10 same answers unless someone's trying to be funny.

As I said, "Virtue signaling" isn't a real thing. It's just a term that some people made up because they don't want anyone telling them that human decency is a virtue that they don't posses.

I'm sorry you don't like it, but it's 2022, and we're not going back. You can either progress with the times, or get left behind. You've made the choice, so stop pretending you don't know the rules, and for the love of God, stop whining abut it.

This explains why you're on the wrong side of so many issues: you don't understand the issue.

He didn't get his scholly pulled because he said the word. He had his scholly pulled because he recorded himself screaming it at the top of his lungs, and posted it on social media for literally the whole world to see. UF players represent the program and the university. A UF ambassador can sing whatever he damn well pleases in the shower, or in his car, or in his apartment. But a UF ambassador cannot post a video of himself screaming the N-word on the internet. Hence, he can't be given a scholarship to UF.

That's all fair, but this is definitely one of those columns under which zero tolerance is going to fall. In our society, sometimes saying something bad is dealt with more harshly than doing something worse. But regardless of what anyone thinks of the fairness of these rules, I am certain he can't claim that he didn't know these rules.

I didn't put that title there. And I haven't been a GC columnist for years. It wouldn't have had any relevance when I was a GC columnist, so it sure has none now.

But I am not surprised you went off on this odd tangent to obfuscate from your awful comments.

So, by my response, you claim to know the color of my skin? Interesting. Shows how shallow you are.

You are not certain of anything, as you don’t know Stokes personally. You can have your opinion, but don’t tell us you’re “certain” of anything, because it’s painfully obvious you are not.

Man, when I read your comments, I can see why so many old white men vote republican. It's because they're so out of touch with the world.

What you're describing does not exist, except in the sports-themed basements of old white men. Have you been to a high school or college campus lately? Not only is it "okay" for anyone of any race or gender to wear dreads, cornrows, or anything else from hip-hop culture, it's a revered symbol of embracing multiple cultures, and even eliminating cultural boundaries. Go to a high school when they let out and see what everyone is wearing. I know that might be creepy for some people, but I have high school kids, help cart around neighborhood kids, etc., so I'm there all the time. And not a rural high school - go to one in city or suburb. Honestly, it's difficult to tell girls from boys, let alone different races, nationalities and cultures apart. Gender fluidity and cultural fluidity, and the love and acceptance of everyone on every spectrum, is the ethic of these young generations.

What you're describing is nothing but the phony white grievances they spew every night on Fox News, trying to get white people mad and scared that they're being replaced.

    And dude....a sombrero?!!

That is likely the most revealing thing you've said so far. You think a sombrero is a part of Hispanic-American culture? You think white people want to wear sombreros? But they can't because of some "librul wokeness" against cultural apropiation? Dude you speak as if your only exposure to Hispanic culture is Speedy Gonzales cartoons.

You truly are the perfect profile of a Fox News republican. You never consume anything that might make you think about anything.

How's that working out for you?
